Nokia and Microsoft invite press for joint event on September 5th, new Lumias are coming

So far, we've heard rumors about a mysterious device under the codename Nokia Phi, that's supposed to be the first Nokia Windows Phone 8 handset. It's expected to sport a design similar to the one on the Lumia 900 with an equally sized 4.3-inch screen, but with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and expandable memory via microSD.
Things are starting to really heat up – in less than two weeks Samsung is bringing the Galaxy Note II, then Nokia is expected to show its new Lumias and on September 12th the next iPhone is coming. What more could you ask for? Stay tuned to not miss any of the fun.

hm i hope it is a little thinner than the lumia 900.. the design was first class but it was a little fat compared to competing handsets

Many people will not mind but this will be sure a weakness if Nokia keeps the same design. I guess it will not be 42MB sensor but something like 20MB is possible.

i am pretty sure the pureview tech cannot change megapixels like that-- but i might be wrong

Of course it can. The pureview tech is mostly about sampling refinement, e.g. cramming detail into a smaller image from a large sensor capture.
That's why you can zoom into a 5mp image like it is 40mp, and they can do the same with a 20mp sensor, but the results will obviously be slightly less stellar than on the 808 PureView phone.
Still way better than other phone-cameras in existence, though.

But on that point, it's a good thing WP8 is bringing user-accessible expandable memory, because if/when PureView does come out, it can use a lot of memory very quickly

i would expect pureview tech in new lumia if not then atleast a 12 mp camera like in N8 which is able to shoot at 1080p would be gr8

I like the Nokia Lumia 900 clean design. Hope that they will change the design but keep the clean finishing. This fall will be a techno world :D

Nokia could survive on patent royalties alone. I doubt they would have money for making handsets in that instance, but the company itself in name and as a technological innovator could stil survive
