Mass production of Apple iPhone phablet to start in July?
The size of the screen on the original version of the Apple iPhone was 3.5 inches, which didn't change until Apple went to 4 inches on the Apple iPhone 5. The screens on both of the models released last year, the Apple iPhone 5s and Apple iPhone 5c, were 4 inches in size.
Apple feels the pressure to raise the size of the iPhone screen after Android manufacturers have raised their screen size to the point where a 5 inch display is considered normal. In China, 40% of Android phones purchased in 2014 had screen sizes exceeding 5 inches. With the iPhone producing $91 billion in sales last year, it is Apple's number one product, which means that the company is under pressure from flagship Android models that come with screens in the 5 inch to 5.5 inch range.

91 ? Did I read that correctly? That seems mighty impressive considering that the nation with the 3rd largest annual defence budget does not spend that much. $9.1 billion seems more appropriate

Why not increase the screen size? You've already followed android's software features, why not follow its OEMs hardware offerings.

I'm a Nexus user and I'm going to say that I'm TIRED of FANBOYS from all sides of the smartphone world. Whether it be Android, Apple, Samsung, Nexus, HTC, yada-yada... That's all I'll feed the trolls today. Anyways; I'm looking forward to seeing even the 4.7" iPhone 6 just to see something new from Apple. It will sell like crazy so I do think that Apple should sell the 5.5" along with it just to give their users options.

You hate fanboys because you buy a cheap plastic phone that barely sells in comparison to giants like apple and samsung
