Mango coming to the HTC HD7S, Surround, LG Quantum and Samsung Focus
We guess today's the lucky day for Windows Phone aficionados on AT&T. Not only did the carrier announce three brand new smartphones, running on the latest version of the operating system, but it also promised to update its whole current WP 7 lineup to WP 7.5, aka Mango. This is really great news for users of the HTC HD7S, HTC Surround, LG Quantum and the Samsung Focus. Customers should get the update sometime during the fall, which sounds bearable enough.

Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is expected to bring quite a few new useful features to Microsoft's still young mobile OS. Most notably, the system will now be capable of doing multitasking for third-party apps (true multitasking), improved Live Tiles on the homescreen, a universal email inbox, Twitter and LinkedIn integration, cross-service threads (a single thread for your text-based conversation with a certain contact, regardless of the service you used to chat), as well as Internet Explorer 9, with support for HTML5. This is just a part of some of the more important goodies that WP 7.5 will bring, so there will be many other treats coming with it.

wow what a smack in the face to the people who decided not to blow their money on atts overpriced plans and have tmobile, sprint, or verizon. Not only do you have a windows phone that doesnt do much, but you also wont be supported in the upgrade. Anyone smart enough to read this should know not even waste your time buying a Windows phone its compromised, and its maker doesnt even support upgrades for the handful of phones it released..........ill stick with Android thank you.l

I know your probably not that bright obviously but the only phones that are listed that are getting Mango are ATT phones. By simply READING, the article you could have gotten that information. Im assuming your a windows phone owner based on your lack of intelligence good luck, my short bus riding freind.

It's an AT&T announcement. Why would AT&T announce updates on other WP7 Phones? If you read just one line after the article you will see something like this:

HAHA!!! Oh i forgot you were forced closed.

who's not bright? Orange in the UK already sporting their Mango line up, runor has it Mango will be rolled out this week to existing phones, though when is a matter of the carriers decisions. This is an AT&T announcement and every carrier has their own flavor of phone. And Let's talk iOS...two carriers with one phone.

Take your Android and head over to the other Hub with your ill-informed talk.

I'm sure Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile (if they don't merge) will get the upgraded phones. But they sure as hell wont get the upgrades or the phones out nearly as fast as GSM. Its been a waiting game for the people who have been waiting, unfortunately. However, Android doesn't put out much updates either. When they put out updates, it might be little bug fixes, Mango is upgrading 500+ features that will get it up to speed with Android and IOS. Now that is A LOT of coding to change for all of the phones. It only makes sense that the most popular phones will get it first. You are probably better off waiting for a new device on the other networks.

just because ATT announced it doesnt mean they will be the only.. or the first people getting it. The Tmobile HD7 got the last update 3 weeks faster than any of the ATT variants much less anyone else's.

No need to start a flame war over something so stupid.

did this guy really just say over priced att plan and then include verizon in the cheaper options. wow drink so more cherry KOOL-AID cuz verizon is more expensive than att. your sir are an ignorant idiot who just spits what ever u hear out. do some reaserch. individual plan on att is74.99/84.99 on verizon the same plan is 90.99/109.99/139.99 depending on your data levels and you get unlimited cell phone calling on att .family plans iare even more apart att is 129.99/149.99 same thing on verizon is 160/200/260. hmmmm wonder who is the more over priced option. oh and dont forget the 13.9% service fee verizon charges on top of local taxes. dont speak out your ass. the only cheap option on your list is t mobile. sprint and att are almost the same individual and family plan is the same. Winner.

That might be recent information, I looked awhile back into switching. Through the hospital, we get 25% off of our bill for being an employee. So that might even be a bigger reason to go there. If they are the same, or even a little more expensive, I wouldn't mind having better coverage lol.

25% off is only the mainline voice plan data is no longer covered. and att and verizon have almost equal voice coverage . i will call a spade a spade verizon has better data coverage in obscure places some of att's edge coverage is atrocious . most places it is useable but some places im like wtf. verizon is built on marketing. people buy into their bs not gonna lie but cheaper they are not. by the way i have sprint. hahaha just get tired of red kool-aid drinkers speaking out of their ass based onw hat they verizon rep told em with no research.

the updates for mango are coming to all wp7 devices!!! period. MS has already stated on numerous occasions that the update will push out to all its devices, so for you ignorant idiots who dont know any better, go troll somewhere else. this is an att ad so therefor talks about att's updates. in fact mango has been leaked for months now, i already had it on my hd7 but wanted to wait for the official update for warranty purposes. this isnt a smack in the face at all, just another article . and if you rerally want to talk about smack in the face, keep buying android phones. i had a samsung fascinate running 2.1 while other phones were being released with 2.3... what a moron

So don't buy any wp7 then, "the best OS in the future." go buy your lame android or iphone.

windows 6.5 cant be updated to 7 because it isnt the same platform. thats kinda like comparing windows xp to windows 7, thats not an upgrade its an entirey new OS. and if you bought a phone with windows 6.5 it was a long time ago because they havent made that OS in almost 2 and a half years...

To anyone else on the Dell Venue Pro, Arrive, Trophy, ect: In case there is ANY doubt- Mango is coming to your device. That is the main reason why Microsoft required such strict controls on the first and second set of devices. They wanted to ensure upgrades to all released W7 phones. It is one of the selling points of Windows phones.
