When the Alias U740 came out two years ago, we were intrigued by the design, but the function left a lot to be desired. There's been rumors that the Samsung U750 would be a replacement, and today we learned this to be a fact. The new device will simply be called the Alias2 and has a similar dual-hinge design, but there have been some changes. Most noticeably the keypad has dynamic-keys (such as E-Ink) that will show numbers if the phone is flipped open in portrait mode, or QWERTY letters if opened in landscape mode. This is the first time we've seen this technology used on a Verizon phone, and we'll be looking for it at CTIA!

i think its more confusing than the first and the side key to turn the device on and off is that for the front or the whole phone because it will get hit in a pocket and turn the phone on and off. they should re design this new alias its ugly i personally would buy the old one

Agreed, this isn't exactly a beautiful phone. The Alias1 wasn't incredible either, but it was better than this. I personally can't wait for the EnV3 or the Chocolate 4... Whenever they come out

yea the enV2 was a bad design but the chocolate 3 was annoying and had horrible software 3/4 i had would reset the phone and two of those would not re activate

I'd rather wait for the Chocolate VII... or enV9... How many damn version are they gonna have?

I like this idea. Make it a "smart phone" (i.e. WinMo 6.5 or greater) with a touch screen on the flip up and its a real winner!

the original alias was a cool concept when it came out. hopefully they improve on it and add some cool featues some of the other samsungs have. i especially like the cool feature on some of the newer samsungs where you can use the camera and take a picture of a business card and add it to your contact list on your phone.

There are two things I would love to see "improved" on this version: Better battery life and a working "Flip Delay" feature.
