Allwinner launches A20 SoC: world’s first dual-core A7 chip
If you ever looked at the Chinese Android market, you have probably heard about AllWinner. The chip maker holds a large portion of the local market, and has just released its new AllWinner A20 chip, the world’s first dual-core Cortex A7 silicon. The A20 will continue pushing the affordability boundaries and promises to deliver five times the energy efficiency and 50% of a power boost compared to Cortex A8 chips.

Along the two A7 cores works a dual-core Mali 400MP2 graphical unit. The chip is capable of playing back 1080p video at 30 frames per second and can capture 720p videos at 60 frames per second. The chip supports

It works with Android 4.1 and 4.2, and integrates an HDMI transmitter, LVDS interface, and integrated TV decoder.

The release of the chip means that we’ll soon start seeing the first Android devices based on it, and judging from MediaTek’s recent success, we wouldn’t be surprised if AllWinner also starts having international ambitions soon.

Who the hell would want to use this low-end chip, when the high-end A15 is way much better™

This is like asking "Who would buy a Kia when you can buy a BMW?" Well the answer is: Money. Not everyone can afford a phone with an A15(BMW) chip, so they make the A7(Kia) for people with less money.

Mr. Troll, you should know that most peeps (except geeks and flagship enthusiasts) consider price first before looks, power and functionality when purchasing a new smartphone. This cheap is targeted specifically for such peeps.
