Alleged photo of the iPhone 7's rear surfaces: dual camera and Smart Connector?

Alleged photo of the iPhone 7's rear surfaces: dual camera and Smart Connector?
Well, folks, with "only" 6 months left until the expected iPhone 7 announcement, it's only natural that rumors will start popping up all around the web, pointing out various features that Apple's next heavy hitter may have.

So far, we've heard that the next iPhones may lack a stereo headphone jack — since Apple will, reportedly, look to make the device thinner, it is said it will remove the classic jack and only allow for headphones to be connected through its proprietary Lightning port. We've also gotten quite a bit of leaks and analyst speculation about a possible "dual sensor" camera.

Well, an alleged photo of what is supposed to be the iPhone 7 Plus' back panel shows us that the two camera sensors may just be a reality. Another new feature we can see on the photo is a modification to the antenna strips (we've seen this new setup in other photos, too), and there seems to be a triple dot Smart Connector near the lower part of the handset.

Alleged photo of the iPhone 7's rear surfaces: dual camera and Smart Connector?
There is no word on whether the dual camera is going to be exclusive to the iPhone 7 Plus or if it's going to make its way to the regular iPhone 7, and we've no idea what an iPhone may be using a Smart Connector for. In case you don't remember – the Smart Connector was introduced with the iPad Pro and is used to connect it to the Smart Keyboard. It's another Apple-proprietary connection standard, which allows for both data an power to be transferred between two devices. iPad Air 3 leaks have revealed that the new slate will have the trio of dots on its side as well.

Unfortunately, the leaked photo does not allow us to see if there is a headphone jack at on the bottom of the phone or not. But, if it's omitted, could the Smart Connector actually be there for a new type of headphones? And what will Apple put in place of the missing 3.5 mm jack? Some reports suggest a second speaker.

Case maker Feld & Vold quickly bade a couple of renders of what the iPhone 7 may look like based on this photo leak. You can check them out below, but keep in mind that what you see is in no way final – just an educated guess based on rumors.

Looks pretty darn boring without the lines.
iPhone 5S' design still the best.

No he's just stating the obvious. HTC did have those lines on their phones before Apple did. Whether its copying? You can choose to see it as you want. But its funny how after Apple signs a patent deal with HTC, the iPhone 6 appears with those ugly antenna gaps drawn at the top and bottom of the phone.

You and many others are so quick to talk about when another OEM copies something Apple does, why dont you stop being a hypocritical bigot and do the exact same when Apple does it.

Is it so effing hard for phone manufacturers to just make a flat back like the 5s? Make it effing thicker with smaller battery if you must - who cares. I hate cases so I'm forced to lay my iPhone down with the camera overhanging the table - I hated android phones for this - now Apple? And no, I hate the curved back even more like the older HTC phones.

iPhone 5s was the best designed phone, period! Get a clue Apple, Samsung, and the rest of the damn manufacturers.

The photos above (whether real or fake) are damn ugly!!! Especially in pink!

This can't be real. Thought Jony Ive said the camera bulge was one of the worst design choices for the iPhone 6?

This guy, John Ive, should take a look around. Nokia N8's 'protruding' camera design was amazing. Like an extra device on a smartphone. But, those days of great design are now long gone. Boring semiugly minimalism has taken over.

You want to attract the attention of Apple fans, right? And which might result in flame wars.

Just stop, already.

Don't misconstrue what people say - Apple will probably be the first do do something DIFFERENT with the dual camera - not the first to h e a dual camera. Stop trying to start a flame war.

Looks stupid with that oval (and this coming from someone who couldn't be any further than an iHater).

Instead of copying LG with the dual camera, doing so with a slide-out battery would be nice. Such a thing would hardly be noticible on at least the iPhone 6/S.

I thought the iPhone 7 will use the dual camera setup for better quality photos and not just wide and short angle photos like the G5

@BradyCrack

You sound ignorant on how the dual-camera in the G5 works.

You can use both of it's camera sensors to focus and zoom in and out on a particular object.

You got the option to shoot a photo with
one of those sensors, or use both for a shot.

But the latter option is slower - that option's shutter speed is nothing to write home about.

While Apple may not be doomed, they do seem to seriously struggle to find any direction to go in with their products. They criticized Microsoft's Surface for not being really useful or good at anything, then come out with the iPad Pro which is infinitely worse, reportedly plan on taking the iPad Air in the same direction. The iPhone's 3D Touch seems to be a bit of a bust as well and supposedly plan on dual camera setups for the new models, intend on making it thinner and thus more than likely to have a protruding camera module which is a horrible design choice, just look at the Galaxy S6 and LG G5. Innovation and design master Apple is long dead, it's saying a lot if Samsung phones are more or less the definition of a beautiful phone.

Wow this comment section seems familiar... Can't quite get my head around it. I think it looks nice, (better then the 6s) though make those antenna lines on the sides thinner so the back doesn't look as strange.
More importantly that smart connecter interests me. Maybe for case connection? Maybe as a new headphone port? No idea.

Te design is in line with the previous leak for the regular 7s case. All the details of that leak are here too, but now with the addition of the dual camera (ugliest design detail in years on an iPhone) and smartconnector dots (more yuck).

That makes both seem more legit.
