Report: Apple iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard to launch first week of November
The latest rumor involving Apple's 12.9-inch tablet, is that the Apple iPad Pro will be ready to go on sale during the first week of November. The Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard are both also expected to launch at the same time. The report comes out of Japan, and cites sources alleged to be close to the company. Both the tablet and the accessories were unveiled last month at the same time that Apple unwrapped the Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus.
While the handsets have already been released (selling more than 13 million units on the launch weekend), both the iPad Pro and accessories have been shown on Apple's website as launching in November. The Apple Pencil will allow users to write and draw in different colors, while mimicking the style of different writing instruments. You can vary the thickness of the lines you draw by pressing harder or softer on the device. The Smart Keyboard is a physical QWERTY keyboard for your iPad Pro that becomes a protective cover when the QWERTY is not in use. The accessory connects to the tablet using a wireless feature called "Smart Connector," which transfers data and power between the iPad Pro and the Smart Keyboard. The keys are treated so that they can resist spills.

The Wi-Fi only version of the iPad Pro will be priced at $799 (32GB) and $949 (128GB). The Wi-Fi+ Cellular version will be offered with 128GB of internal memory only, for $1079. Color options are gold and silver. The Apple Pencil will cost you $99, with the Smart Keyboard tagged at $169.

By launching the device and the accessories early in November, Apple is allowing plenty of time for it to rack up some sales during the holiday shopping season.

You can get it for cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

With 100 bucks also, you are not getting what you pay for.

Why ? According to what Apple is saying, you are getting the most accurate, dophisticated Pencil, designed to work with iPad Pro touch layer so you get minimum latency and perfect responsivnes to your input. It's designed to look and feel like a real pencil, not just a cheap plastic stick with no weight. Most importantly it's made for profesionals, who do their work on iPad, not somebody who is stuck in pre-iPhone era.

I'm not against it or anything, but it still doesn't change the fact that it has a high profit margin.

considering anyone buys it.

Yes accroding to Apple. Its not moe accurate than a WACOM pen and their pens are far cheaper. The WACOM has 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and an is as accurate as 0.1 micro of a pixel. Lag? NONE. The WACOM stylus has no lag and I can pick up right where I left off. Guess what, it doesnt costs me $100 to buy a pen either. I bought a WACOM Bamboo Feel to go with my Note Pro because I wanted a full sized WACOM pen vs the one the "tablet comes with". Costs? $35 on Amazon. Never needs charging, never needs a battery, doesnt need bluetooth or anything. Because the WACOM digitizer is under the display already. That's perfection.

It should have been released with Mac OS and an Intel Core i7. Considering what you get, the iPad Pro is absolutely ridiculous with its price. Surface Pro 3 runs full Windows and has the same type of pen, while having actual "desktop-class hardware". Apple isn't fooling anyone. It's still a mobile platform using iOS, so it comes nowhere near being a true productivity tool. Chopped-down versions of desktop programs won't make it any better. Users will still get the feeling that it's just an iPad. Because that's all it is, just another iPad.

chopped down versions ? have you seen the keynote it runs auto cad and many adobe apps better than most laptops . I am sure professionals that do real work might be interested in that . Also having OSX on a tablet is bad idea as its just not designed to work with a touchscreen . Thats why windows 8 sucks both on touchscreen and mouse . Its capable of supporting both but it doesnt do it well .

Its not the same Auto-CAD that si on PC's because ARM has nowhgere near the power of an x86 i7 processor. A mobile app is nowhere near as powerful as a desktop app. I challenge you right now..Get an iPad Pro and get a Surface Pro and load up the best possible Auto-CAD sofwtare on them and I bet the iPad version is stripped down. Just because 2 applications share the same name, doesnt mean they both do the exact same thing. Even Office on Mobile doesnt have all the functiosn of Office on the desktop. If it did it wouldnt be free. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING BECAUSE WHAT YOU SAID IS FALSE> It runs a version of AutoCAD designed for the hardware in the iPad. That doesnt mean it is goign to be equal to the application designed for a Windows PC or Mac. I have an older version of AutoCAD from 2013 and I bet it can do things the ipad version cant I will bet my life on it.

I think that even the cheapest version of the Surface Pro 4 will still be cheaper than 32GB iPad Pro + Pencil.

the iPhone 6S is just as powerful if not even more than the 12 inch macbook , i bet the A9X is just as powerful as the i5 surface , not to mention that the iPad pro also has four gigs of ram . But yeah you're right its expensive and i dont think i could afford one

The Surface isnt. Because it is a full alptop PC...unliek the iPad. Pricing a laptop with similar specs is roughly $799-999 depending on brand and none of those are single form factor devices. Makign a PC more mobile costs more money which is why a laptop and a desktop with the same parst will costs less. The ipad dis overpriced. The Surface in this case is not. Asus laptop, the only huge difference is the 1TB HDD, but HDD are cheaper than SSD's anyways The Surface has a better camera, the parts have to be made even smaller which costs money, its made of Magnesium and not plastic which is also pricey. You need to know what you are talking about.

Well I barely use my iPad as is so I doubt I'll buy the pro but if you're gonna get a new iPad this would be the way to go

14. AlikMalix unregistered

I really doubt this iPad was made for the masses, it's designed for graphic pros and other establishments that require bigger pad with demanding specs. From what was presented it feels like "get your work done" device vs. a typical iPad which is more of a consumption device. I would love to have the pencil for my regular iPad or iPhone.

... Kinda like buying a Bentley or Maybach and drive it yourself... Those are designed for consumers that need to be chaffered around.... I can see people buying these things to watch YouTube videos and not for its full potential.

This will sell great not like the cheap surface pro. Apple such has great R&D dep. Surfac and samsung tablet copying apple

15. AlikMalix unregistered

Everything about your comment is kinda dumb. Yes Apple product will sell (so saying that is a bit redundant, yes it has great RnD but so do others - so it's vapor words, and no surface is its own animal and Samsung just makes tablets because Samsung makes every possible combination of tech ever consumable my their core an brain.

apple has one of the smallest R&D budgets, so small, its actually funny. Samsung or Microsoft pay over 5 times Apple does a year on R&D.

How much of that 5-times amount is going on their phones ? How much R&D funding gets a single model in samsung portfolio ? Few milions ? How much of that ~3 billions per quarter Apple is putting into the iPhone ? And why Apple is increasing their funding so much faster than others ? Maybe others don't even have money to do R&D for their phones.

I think both companies have good R&D

I think you forgot about the companies that Apple buys out entirely or funds research outside itself to get first dibs.

The Pro is looking pretty tempting. A9X, 4 gigs of DDR4, and that screen. Hmmmmm...
