8-pin dock connector confirmed in a photo of parts alleged for the next iPhone and the iPad Mini
We might be nearing the end of conundrum whether the smaller dock connector of the next iPhone, and eventually the iPad mini, will have a 19-, 16-, or 8-pin layout, compared to the current 30-pin.

The latest repair parts leak shows a connector with just eight pins on one side, and nothing on the other, so we can assume that this will be it, if the photos are legit. The male part of the connector is equipped with 16 pins, eight on each side, judging from previous part leaks, so apparently it wouldn't matter what side you are plugging it in with, it should work both ways.

This current leak that eventually solves the pin mystery, also contains two purported headphone jack assemblies for the smaller iPad Apple is about to release, which come in black and white, suggesting at least two different designs or a change in design during the way. They also signify that the iPad Mini might be closer to the iPod touch design than the larger iPad, as suggested numerous times so far, judging from the close proximity of the headphone jack and the connector.

I thought Apple was going to put an adapter in the box with the new iPhone? So you can still use it with the old connectors.
