Is your Pixel popping or clicking on its own? | Image by PhoneArena
Some of the latest Pixel flagship phones have started to behave strangely. Users report on Reddit that their Pixels are producing strange popping and clicking noises from their speakers without any particular reason.
Hi, I experience since some time the random loud popping sound when opening a website with media or an app. There a tons of experiences of this bug across multiple generations of pixel phones dating many years back on this very subreddit. Is there no fix avaible yet?

Many users have confirmed the issue in the comments, and as you see in the original post, it seems that this bug dates years back and has been affecting Pixel phones from various generations. The same issue was reported two days ago on the same subreddit page, and again, the user complained about a pop/click sound on their Pixel 10 Pro XL phone.

Some users in the comments said that specific actions trigger the clicking/popping sound, while others wrote it just appears on a completely random basis.

The Pixel audio glitch is not related to Android 17
According to the reports, Android 17 is not the culprit. | Image by Google
These bugs normally appear when a big OS lands, and many people have suggested that Android 17 is the culprit. Google started rolling out its latest mobile OS version last month, and there were different issues reported shortly afterwards, including bricked Pixel 8 models.
However, the majority of reports come from people who either haven't upgraded to Android 17 yet or had the issue prior to the upgrade, pointing toward a different reason for the abhorrent behavior.
Which Pixel models are affected?
It's hard to tell, given the issue has been around for years, apparently. But the latest reports say the affected models include the Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9a, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
It's not clear when the current wave of audio issues has started. But the most important question that many affected users keep asking remains unanswered.
Is there a fix?
Disabling the Adaptive Sound feature seems to have worked for many users. | Image by ZDNet
Our colleagues at Android Authority have taken the issue to Google, but there's no official statement at the moment. There's no official fix either.
There are things you can try if you've been affected by this annoying bug, though. One of the workarounds is to disable Adaptive Sound. This has either completely cured or minimized the glitch for some Pixel users.
How to Disable the Feature
Open your Pixel's Settings app.
Tap Sound & vibration.
Tap Adaptive Sound.
Toggle the switch to turn it Off.
