A fresh leak reaffirms Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and a new wider Fold will all launch pricier this July, with surging memory and component costs to blame. To cushion the hit, Samsung is reportedly stacking up bigger pre-order perks, trade-in boosts, and bundles. Anyone weighing the best foldables, Apple's looming first one included, faces new math.
Samsung's entire foldable family is getting pricier
The numbers come from Korean tipster Lanzuk, who posted the breakdown to a Naver blog (translated source). Lanzuk has a solid record with Samsung supply-chain leaks, and this matches months of pricing chatter, so it reads as a credible reported claim rather than a wild guess.
Per the post, retail channels in Asia and Europe have already locked in the higher tags. The standard Flip 8 could open near $1,200, the wider Fold 8 model around $1,800, and the Fold 8 Ultra may climb past $2,100, which would crown it Samsung's priciest mainstream phone yet. A late-July launch still looks set.

How Samsung plans to soften the blow
Samsung is not just hiking prices and walking away. The leak says it is prepping bigger pre-order perks, fatter trade-in credit, free storage upgrades, and regional bundles to take the sting out.
The catch sits in the box, where there is reportedly still no charger or case coming back. This is not new behavior either, since we flagged the quiet price bump Samsung slipped onto phones it already sells, pushing the Fold 7's top model to $2,499.99.
That said, the Galaxy community appears not necessarily to be against paying more, they just want it to mean something. On r/GalaxyFold, one buyer who already committed to the Fold 8 said it is worth it only if Samsung brings back the S Pen and a bigger battery.

So Samsung pushing the Fold 8 to 5,000 mAh is necessary, not a guaranteed win. And if you are holding out for Apple's first foldable, this pricing still matters, since that phone is rumored to open even higher than the Fold 8.

Here is what the rumor mill points to:
S Pen support returning after a one-generation absence
A 5,000 mAh battery, up from the Fold 7's 4,400 mAh
45 W wired charging, nearly double the Fold 7's 25 W
Why this hike is easier to forgive
I have heard from plenty of people who would pay more for a Samsung foldable on two conditions, the S Pen comes back and the battery finally grows. This year both look like they are happening, which makes the increase far easier to stomach than the quiet one Samsung pushed onto older hardware.
Our Galaxy Z Fold 7 review still calls it an overall winner, so the bones are there. What I cannot forgive is charging north of $2,000 and still shipping a bare box, no charger, no case, just a bigger bill and a shrug.
