T-Mobile could offer eight new free perks, including Apple Music, YouTube Premium and more

T-Mobile, Verizon, and many other carriers give a lot of priority to perks, as these are one of the many ways they rely on to attract customers. T-Mobile currently provides Netflix Standard with ads, Apple TV+ for $3 per month, and Hulu as well on select plans. Verizon, on the other hand, offers a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle, a Netflix and HBO Max bundle, and more.
That said, the T-Mobile perk lineup has not been upgraded in recent times, but that could change very soon. A recent report suggests T-Mobile is planning to introduce the option for customers to choose the free perk they want from options ranging from YouTube Premium and Apple Music to ESPN+.
An anonymous T-Mobile employee has reportedly shared that eight new account-level SOC codes have been added to the carrier's internal system. These codes are used within the system as identifiers for different plans and add-ons. Seven out of the eight new SOC codes spotted in the internal system end with "OUA," which is believed to be an abbreviation for On Us Add-on.
The first music-streaming-related SOC code that has been spotted in the system is APMOUA, which reportedly stands for Apple Music On Us. That said, it's not as though T-Mobile has never provided music-streaming services as a perk in its plans. Remember Pandora? However, it was simply a temporary trial available via T-Mobile Tuesdays instead of being a full-time add-on.
YTBOUA and SXMOUA SOC codes are next on the list, and they presumably stand for YouTube On Us and SiriusXM On Us, respectively. YouTube Music has become the go-to music-streaming app for many users these days, so it is a nice perk to have. SiriusXM, in case you haven't heard the name before, is also a reputed app in the music genre that offers talk radio as well.
As mentioned above, T-Mobile already has two popular video streaming services under its belt: Netflix and Apple TV+. The carrier is now reportedly thinking of introducing a few more popular options for video streaming. The first related SOC code that has been identified is PAPOUA, which is believed to be short for Paramount Plus On Us.
The T-Mobile employee who shared the details did not reveal whether this will be an Essential or Premium plan. For reference, the former shows ads, while the latter does not. The next service is ESPN+.
Remember that I mentioned above that seven out of eight identified codes end with OUA? This is the one service that has a different naming pattern and features the code C26ESDIS. The code surely doesn't make it clear, but internal documentation reportedly reveals that it is an ESPN+ perk, as "ES" in C26ESDIS is believed to stand for "ESPN," while "DIS" is short for "discount."
The last three perks are neither music-streaming nor video-streaming-related freebies. The SOC codes of these three perks are XBXOUA, GAPOUA, and DSHOUA.
XBXOUA stands for Xbox Game Pass On Us. GAPOUA represents Google AI On Us. DSHOUA is short for DashPass On Us.
It is reportedly believed that T-Mobile is going to introduce a system where it will let customers choose one of the above-mentioned perks instead of locking them into whatever comes bundled with their current plan. This way, the customer would have the option to enjoy the perk they want. However, I would advise taking all this with a grain of salt, as there is no confirmation on this front from T-Mobile.
But I, personally, would appreciate this system, where customers get to choose the perk. Furthermore, I would also want T-Mobile, if this system becomes live, not to keep it exclusive to certain plans like Experience Beyond but instead make it available to everyone.
