Samsung accidentally confirms the best feature that's coming to the Galaxy S26 Ultra
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is going to help protect your privacy.
Samsung has unintentionally confirmed that the S26 Ultra is coming with a feature called Privacy Display.
Ever since glimpses of the One UI 8.5 update started surfacing, one feature that's been talked about the most is the new Privacy Display. Ice Universe was one of the first to spot this feature in the One UI 8.5 code. Since then, many reliable tipsters have claimed it is coming to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, I never consider anything confirmed until it's officially announced.
One of the first accessories I buy for every new phone is a privacy screen protector. But the main issue with them is that, since they are not officially made by the phone manufacturer whose phone I'm using, they often interfere with the fingerprint sensor. However, if you are going to buy the S26 Ultra, you will not have to face this issue, as there won't be any need for a dedicated privacy screen protector anymore.
It's now official
Fortunately, Privacy Display isn't a rumored feature anymore, as Samsung has now officially confirmed it, or it would be better to say, mistakenly confirmed it. The company recently shared a blog post highlighting all the Good Lock upgrades coming with the One UI 8.5 update. One of the upgrades is the Quick Settings resizing capabilities for QuickStar. To better demonstrate how it actually works, a screenshot was used in the post, which contained a dedicated option button to manage Privacy Display.
This indirectly confirms that the feature is indeed coming to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. But you may ask, why will it be exclusive to the Ultra model of the upcoming Galaxy series? That's because it requires a Flex Magic Pixel OLED panel, which is said to be used only in the display of the Ultra variant. Also, since it heavily relies on hardware, it's very unlikely that it will be rolled out to older Galaxy phones, even if they're compatible with the One UI 8.5 update.
However, there are some reports suggesting that the Privacy Display feature will actually be used in the entire Galaxy S26 lineup. We will only find out whether it's true when Samsung shares details about this feature during its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which is said to be happening in February.

The Privacy Display feature would ensure that an unknown person can't peek at your phone to see what you're viewing. It's also believed that you'll have the manual option to control which apps this feature works on. For example, you'll be able to configure it to automatically turn on when using a banking app. Furthermore, some reports suggest that it will work with Galaxy AI to automatically hide your display content when someone passes by or quickly glances at your S26 Ultra.
