Another day, another possible phone price hike on the horizon. This time, it's the Vivo X Fold 6, one of the most anticipated foldables of 2026, that's rumored to be getting pricier.
The world's two most popular phone brands, Samsung and Apple, have already set the trend, so it's not surprising that brands like Vivo follow suit. The iPhone 17 Pro arrived late last year with a $100 higher price tag, and so did the Galaxy S26 at the start of this year. The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max is also guaranteed to cost you more and this isn't some wild speculation, it's none other than Tim Cook himself who said so some days ago.
Foldable phones have been expensive from day one, but these premium handsets will cost an arm and a leg pretty soon.
Vivo, for example, might jack prices up by $400!

As usual, the phone will be released in China and if the company feels like it, it might reach additional markets soon after. While I doubt that it'll come officially to the US, an EU/UK release would be nice.

The big announcement day is set to take place on June 26 in China.
What's the 2026 foldable you're waiting for?
Prices are going one way
So, the Vivo X Fold 6 might be available in the following configurations (prices are approximate, as they're directly converted to US dollars):
12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage: ~$1,475
12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage: ~$1,625
16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage: ~$1,700
16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage: ~$1,845
For context, its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold 5, came with a price tag of ~1,030 for the 12 GB + 256 GB variant. Its most expensive variant was announced last year with a price tag of ~$1,400.
So, we're facing some $400+ price hikes, folks!
What are we getting for this much money?
Judging by recent leaks, a lot. The Vivo X Fold 6 could feature an 8.02-inch 2K inner display with ultra-thin glass and a 6.51-inch cover screen, while switching from Qualcomm chips to MediaTek's flagship Dimensity 9500 processor.
One of the biggest highlights is the rumored 7,000mAh battery, which would be larger than what most foldables currently offer and could set a new benchmark for the category. Camera upgrades are also expected, with a 200 MP main sensor joined by 50 MP ultra-wide and 50 MP periscope cameras. The phone may retain dual 20MP selfie cameras found on its predecessor.
What about Samsung and Apple?
If the leak proves accurate, Vivo's next foldable could challenge rivals such as Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold lineup and Apple's rumored foldable iPhone with a combination of premium displays, flagship performance and unusually large battery capacity.
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 (which could be called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra) is rumored to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a larger 5,000 mAh battery with 45W charging and a 200 MP main camera, while keeping its book-style design and becoming thinner and lighter.
Apple's first foldable, commonly referred to as the iPhone Fold, is expected to arrive with a 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outer screen, an A20-series chip and a premium titanium body. Rumors suggest Apple is prioritizing a nearly crease-free display and a durable liquid-metal hinge, with Touch ID potentially replacing Face ID due to space constraints.
Battery capacity could reach around 5,400-5,500 mAh, while camera hardware may include dual or triple 48 MP sensors.
