Sometimes a simple visual element can turn a device on its head. Google Japan has created a very clever Pixel 11 wallpaper that does just that. It allows you to see your phone's internals right on the home screen. And it's pretty cool!

Google Japan created a "Pixel Blueprint" wallpaper

The Pixel 11 series has been around for a little over a month, and the initial hype has already started to die down. Especially with the iPhone Duo and the opening and closing animation everyone's talking about.

Now, Google Japan has created its own visual element for the Pixel 11 series and shared it on X. If you're a fan of see-through designs, you're going to love this one. It brings the internals of your Pixel device to the home screen and makes the phone look transparent.

Turn your old Pixel phone into a cool transparent phone

The design is black-and-white, but I bet it shows the real schematics of the Pixel 11. There are a lot of elements, and Google Japan probably chose black and white so as not to overwhelm the home screen.

There's a little demo image showing how the wallpaper looks on the Pixel 11 screen, and everything seems to be perfectly legible.

Another cool thing is that you can slap this wallpaper on your old Pixel 9 or 10 and give it a Pixel 11 makeover.

There's a second version of this "technical blueprint" wallpaper—this time showing the back of the device—and it's equally impressive. You can see the cameras, battery, and repair URL, along with Google branding.

The iPhone Duo effect

Phones look so similar nowadays that companies have to rely on UI and design elements to make them stand out. The iPhone Duo is a prime example. If you put it next to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Pura X Max, and the Xiaomi 18 Fold, it looks very similar to most of these models.

But the transition animation when you open and close it is all people talk about nowadays. This goes to show that we're visual creatures, and a "nice" animation can sway our opinion.

This Pixel 11 wallpaper aims to achieve a similar effect. It reminds me of transparent back skins, but now the effect has moved to the front of the phone.

What do you think about this wallpaper? Is it cool or just meh?
