Mac Duo is an app that mimics the iPhone Duo animation
Dhananjay Bhosale has created a free app called Mac Duo, which recreates the iPhone Duo animation whenever you close or open your MacBook.
There's no hidden functionality behind this app; it's purely aesthetic. You can visit the official Mac Duo page and download the app yourself, but I warn you: it's addictive, and your MacBook hinge won't like the increased workload. You'll be opening and closing the lid a lot—I guarantee it!
Mac Duo compatibility
The app requires macOS 13 or newer and should work on MacBook Air models with M2 or newer, as well as 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M1 Pro/Max or newer chips.
There's a preview for the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro, but the app needs more testing on that particular model.
At the moment, if you're rocking an M1 MacBook Air, a 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1 or M2, or Intel models with only a standard open/closed clamshell switch, you're out of luck; the app doesn't work, as it needs a compatible lid sensor.
