A folding iPhone is something that the smartphone industry has been waiting for for a very long time. In a recent poll, we asked you what you thought the fate of the iPhone Duo will be in the end.
A little over 40 percent of you said what I believe to be true as well, the iPhone Duo will prevail in the end. It’s a major Apple launch, after all, how could it not?
It’s not something like the Apple Vision Pro that most end consumers didn’t care for. And, unlike with the Apple Vision Pro, Apple is already working on an iPhone Duo 2 for next year. I think that it’s a pretty safe bet to say that next year’s model will have fixed the hinge problems as well.

On the other hand, almost the same number of voters — a little over 39 percent — believe that that the iPhone Duo is a failure. While Apple might pull it back with its successor in 2027, this year’s model will go down as a major fail in the world of tech according to around 39 percent of you.

Lastly, 20.5 percent of respondents said that it’s difficult to tell how the iPhone Duo will go down. It’s hard to say how many units are out there that are prone to breaking because Apple will obviously play down the numbers. Other issues, like app compatibility, should be fixed pretty soon.

What will be the fate of the iPhone Duo?
While I’m highly disappointed with Apple for launching the iPhone Duo in its current state, I also cannot see it not being a commercial success. People are still lining up at stores early in the morning hoping to snag one.
This is a flagship iPhone launch. Even if half of the Duos out there broke, people would still line up to buy the successor next year.
Abdullah loves smartphones, Virtual Reality, and audio gear. Though he covers a wide range of news his favorite is always when he gets to talk about the newest VR venture or when Apple sets the industry ablaze with another phenomenal release.
