Google couldn’t help it and shared its own Pixel 11 Pro leak

We’re mere weeks from the Pixel 11 series premiere, which will be on August 12 in New York City, and will also feature the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold. However, it gets more and more difficult to consider the event a “reveal” as Google itself has once again leaked its own upcoming phones.

Google shared an official photo of the Pixel 11 Pro

You can consider the Pixel 11 Pro design confirmed after Google shared an image of the device. Uploaded in a promotional page for Google Fi, which has been cleaned since it was noticed by Droid Life, the image shows the device in one of its new colors.

While the text on the page refers to the Pixel 11 Pro XL, some tiny details on the microphone placement suggest it is more likely the smaller Pixel 11 Pro. The device is shown in the fan-favorite beige color, which is rumored to be branded as Dune once the phone is out.

This could be a good deal

Besides the phone itself, the leak also revealed a promotion that may be even more intriguing. Google Fi may offer a Pixel 11 Pro XL with a deal that’d make it “just $100,” if there aren’t hidden tricks and requirements hidden in some fine print.

This offer is very likely to come with a trade-in or a bill credit contract, which could make it less tempting than it sounds on the surface. However, rumors about the Pixel 11 Pro XL claim it may come with an increased price, making it start at $1,299.

Probably the most controversial part of Google’s rumored plans for its new phones is that the base versions of the Pro and Pro XL models may feature only 12GB of RAM. To get the maximum 16GB of RAM, you’ll need to get a version with at least 512GB of storage and pay the extra price for it.

Unsurprisingly, Google fans on Reddit are far from happy with these prices. What should make the company worried is that even people with older phones seem to think they’re excessive. Several people said they’d stick with their Pixel 8 Pro because of the price, though one user said they’d think about it if they get some healthy discounts.

Plenty of reasons to be excited

As unpleasant as the higher prices are, the Pixel 11 series is shaping up to be an intriguing upgrade over the Pixel 10 phones. The highlight new feature will be Pixel Glow, which Google already teased to be a new light inside the camera bar of the new phones. It is still not clear what its features will be, but they’ll likely be related to AI and well-being.

Google is also set to launch some nice colors across the four models, which are also getting the new Tensor G6 chipset, which is rumored to be manufactured on TSMC’s 2nm process. The phones are also getting a new MediaTek modem, which should put an end to the connectivity issues that have been plaguing Pixel phones over the years.

Beyond that, none of the Pixel 11 phones is expected to bring any groundbreaking upgrades or design changes. All models will be largely the same as their 2025 counterparts, with some minor changes to the weight, size, and battery capacity.

Really bad at keeping secrets

My least favorite thing about Google’s hardware is that it somehow always manages to leak weeks ahead of the official premieres. I’m not against leaks, and I enjoy investigating the latest smartphone rumors, but there’s no fun in having every single detail revealed so early and so easily. One thing I’d like to see changing with the Pixel 12 is for Google to finally start keeping its secret.
