Samsung may have made a controversial decision for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, which are expected to launch at the rumored July 22 Galaxy Unpacked event. While they are certainly going to be among the best foldable phones out there, a new leak suggests their colors will hold at least one big surprise.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 color options have a classic option missing
Samsung may not offer any of its upcoming foldables in black, instead opting for more bright colors. According to a DigitalCitizen report, the company will offer all three of its foldables in Cream, Graphite, and two more colors, which will be unique for every model.
Here are all the colors of each of the devices:

This would mark only the second time in the history of the Galaxy Z Fold series when Samsung won’t have black as one of the main colors of the device. The only other time was when the Galaxy Z Fold 6 was launched, but then the company offered a Crafted Black edition as an online exclusive.

As for the Galaxy Z Flip series, Samsung had opted out of black versions before. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 were also only available in Graphite, with the Z Flip 6 getting an online exclusive Crafted Black version.

All the colors for all the storage options

The report also mentions the storage options for the upcoming devices, with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 expected in 256GB and 512GB versions. The new wide Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the tall Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected to add a third version with 1TB storage to the mix.
Thankfully, Samsung isn’t getting inspiration from Google and you won’t be forced into a specific color to get some of the storage options. However, the Korean company might mirror Apple’s questionable strategy with the colors of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
These were the first Pro iPhones to not offer a black version, opting instead for a dark blue, silver, and the surprisingly popular Cosmic Orange colors. While the latter helped the 17 Pro stand out from the crowd, many users were very unhappy with the omission of the most classic color option.
One user on Reddit even said that would buy an older iPhone 16 Pro or the vanilla iPhone 17 if they had to switch their phone, because there’s no black 17 Pro version. Others called the decision illogical, suggesting the person who signed it off should get fired.

There’s still some hope

While this leak is very likely to turn out true, there’s still a chance that Samsung will offer black versions for at least some of its new devices. In recent years, the company has always had online exclusive colors, which could give a better choice for anyone who wouldn’t enjoy the lighter graphite option.
Fans of white phones may have an even harder time making their choice, though. The cream option will likely have a noticeable beige tint, while the graphite one could feel too dark to them.
It shouldn’t work like this
If it were up to me, everyone would’ve used a smartphone in the brightest possible color, just because they’re less boring. However, I understand that many people don’t want anything like this and would prefer to stick to a simple and classic black or white forever. As much as I disagree, I still think the pistachio Z Fold 8 should be an addition to a black version, not a replacement.
