Samsung is planning different Galaxy S27 models for various regions, but the new Galaxy S27 Pro looks promising regardless.

Though the Galaxy S26 series is mere months old, Samsung apparently already has a concrete plan in place for the Galaxy S27 series that will come out next year. In addition, the new Galaxy 27 Pro model is shaping up to be one really fantastic phone for users who don’t care for the S Pen.

Galaxy S27 has regional differences

According to a new report (translated source), Samsung is still planning to include regional differences for the S27 lineup. As usual, this means that the models will feature different processors according to where you buy them from.

The base Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27 Plus will mostly ship with the Exynos 2700 and feature a Snapdragon processor in certain regions like the U.S. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 Ultra and the new Galaxy S27 Pro will allegedly ship with Snapdragon processors in every market.

Galaxy S27 Pro sounds awesome

Wait, what’s the Galaxy S27 Pro? The Galaxy S27 Pro is a new model that Samsung is apparently working on to include alongside the expected three models.

As the Galaxy S25 Edge didn’t sell too well and a successor was put on hold, the company needed something else to take its place. Enter a Galaxy Pro phone.

This model will apparently feature all of the same specs as the Ultra except for the S Pen, which is will lack. It might also be 0.1 inches shorter than the Ultra.

This is especially interesting because Apple is reportedly planning to name its foldable iPhone the iPhone Ultra. So the two smartphone rivals are now okay with trading monikers for their newest flagship smartphones.

That’s about it, the phone is expected to come with every other Ultra-level feature like privacy display and even the same cameras. If the report is accurate and the Pro model really is shipping with Snapdragon everywhere, then it might just end up being a new fan favorite for customers.

Exynos 2700, is it any good?

Though it’s still way too early to be able to tell, there has been one leaked Exynos 2700 benchmark that looks promising. We can’t know just yet how good the Exynos 2700 will be because Samsung is going to keep improving on it and new benchmarks will keep coming out over time.

However, the company’s recent track record is solid. Expect at least the same levels of performance gains as are commonly seen on competing processors like the Snapdragon and Apple’s A-series chips.

This is because, unlike the Exynos 2600 which saw a massive jump in performance and efficiency over its predecessor, the Exynos 2700 isn’t shifting to a smaller manufacturing process. The Exynos 2700 will very likely remain a 2 nm chip just like its predecessor.

On the other hand, Snapdragon is expected to shift its processors to 2 nm. If Snapdragon keeps its other advantages over Exynos intact, then the leap that the Exynos 2600 made to catch up with Snapdragon might be rendered pointless for the future.

Samsung seems aware that the Exynos 2700 might still be shipping with a few problems, like overheating under sustained load and inconsistent performance over long periods of strenuous use. Hence the region-specific split rearing its head once more.

A slight bummer, but also good news

I was hoping that Exynos would get competent enough for Samsung to not rely on Snapdragon again next year. If that happens, I’m hopeful that the company can then improve the hardware-software synergy between One UI and Exynos.

Unfortunately, it appears we still have some ways to go. However, the Galaxy S27 Pro is sounding more and more promising by the day. Samsung might just have a winner on its hands.
