Last week, news broke that some Galaxy S26 series phones were spotted running a new performance profile in China.

The info came from prolific tipster IceUniverse and showed Galaxy S26 running the adaptive performance profile in the settings menu under "battery."

Well, it seems that Samsung needs to roll out this new profile globally as soon as possible, according to the poll inside the original article.

Galaxy users need the new adaptive performance profile

Looking at the poll, most of you Galaxy users out there are rocking the Standard performance profile, which is not surprising.

This one's on by default, and not that many people fiddle with the battery settings. However, more than 27% of the voters said they need the new performance profile on their phones, which is significant enough for Samsung to consider bringing it globally and to more Galaxy models. What does it do?

What does this adaptive performance profile really do?

The profile is called "adaptive" because it uses AI to track the performance demand of your phone in real time. When it detects a demanding task, such as a game, it goes into a high-performance configuration.

When you just browse the web or doomscroll your socials, the phone automatically switches to a light-performance profile to conserve battery. It's a neat trick, and I'm amazed Samsung took so long to implement it.

Could we see it on more Galaxy phones?

The poll results are not surprising, not in the slightest. It's a no-brainer to conserve the battery when doing light work and pump up the power in high-demanding scenarios. Could we get this outside China? And on Galaxy models other than flagships?

Absolutely! Galaxy phones are quite uniform in terms of features they offer, and we will most definitely see the new "adaptive" profile rolling out in more regions outside China.

It's just a matter of time, or there might be some legal hurdle stopping Samsung from taking control of your phone's battery, but I'm sure we'll get the feature sooner rather than later.
