Finally, some good news for the Pixel 11

The Pixel 11 series is launching this week, and after so many rumors, it feels like there’s little to get excited about. Still, a new rumor suggests there could be a sliver of hope and Google could get at least one thing right with the new phones.

The vanilla Pixel 11 may have sufficient RAM after all

Some of the earlier rumors about the lowest-tier version of the vanilla Pixel 11 claimed it would feature as little as 8GB of RAM. That would’ve meant a drop from the 12GB of RAM on both versions of the Pixel 10.

Now, leaker @evowizz on X claims that Google will do the right thing and give 12GB of RAM to all versions of the device. On top of this, the leaker also claims the Pixel 11 will feature the same 10.8MP telephoto camera as last year’s model, contrary to the rumors that the zoom camera would be removed.

Bad news for the Pixel 11 Pro

Apparently, Google couldn’t stick to the same sensible decision for all its phones, and the Pixel 11 Pro may still see different amounts of RAM across models. According to leaker Roland Quandt, the Pixel 11 Pro models will feature 16GB of RAM only on the models with 512GB of storage or more.

While Quandt doesn’t clarify it, this move is most likely going to also affect the Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The base 256GB versions of these models will get only 12GB of RAM, which would be a downgrade from the Pixel 10 Pro models.

All this wouldn’t feel like that much of an issue if Google hadn’t already confirmed that the new phones will come at higher prices than last year. 

Naturally, Pixel fans are far from happy with this development, with users on Reddit lamenting the memory price crisis caused by the AI boom Google is an important part of. One user pointed out it feels like they’ll be paying more for less, while others expressed their hope for the crisis to soon be over.
