Xperia X10 line to receive upgrade to Android 2.1 in Q4

Xperia X10 line to receive upgrade to Android 2.1 in Q4
While the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 won't be powered by Android 2.1 out of the box, the joint venture said today that it will upgrade the X10 line with 2.1 by Q4 of this year. The models involved are the Xperia X10, Xperia X10 mini and the Xperia X10 mini pro. Adding Android 2.1 is part of an upgrade to the handset's UX platform and other improvements include HD video recording with the same specs (720p) as on the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, and upgrades to Mediascape and Timescape to make them "smarter and richer". For Xperia X10 users, the bad news is that multitouch was not mentioned at all. The timing of the update might also prove to be a bone of contention for users of the joint venture's first Android model. It is possible that by the time the Xperia X10 is running Android 2.1, other high end Android phones could be sporting 2.2.
