The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra, according to all leaks and insider reports, will feature a redesigned look over the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Now, new detailed renders and a mock announcement trailer have helped the phone come alive, giving us a better look at what Samsung is aiming for.

Samsung’s upcoming flagship — as well as its new counterpart, the Galaxy S27 Pro — will come with a much larger camera island on the rear. While the base Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27 Plus will resemble their predecessors, the Ultra and the new Pro models are dropping the iconic vertical camera layout.

A phone of firsts
The Galaxy S27 Ultra, according to leaks, will be special because it will be a phone of a handful of firsts. For example, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is reportedly finally ditching Samsung’s beloved 5,000 mAh battery and opting for something bigger and better.
Also, the phone will obviously look a lot different to its predecessors. Such a redesign has not been seen on a Samsung flagship in a very long time.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is also adopting DC dimming for its display instead of the usual low-frequency PWM dimming that Samsung has been using forever. Furthermore, if the eye strain issues from the Galaxy S26 Ultra are fixed, then the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be the first to do Privacy Display right for Samsung’s entire customer base.

In addition to the renders, 4RMD also made a mock trailer to show off what the Galaxy S27 Ultra might look like in motion. Final details are still not set in stone, of course, and some of the colors shown in these renders are probably not going to be in the final list of options, but it’s a handy way to see what the S27 Ultra can be expected to look like.
I can see Samsung’s vision

Some might say that the new redesign is ugly or that it is a copy of the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro. Personally, however, I think that a redesign was long overdue and I don’t dislike this new look.
Samsung wanted a fresh start and what better phone to do that with than the one that is finally moving past the dreaded 5,000 mAh battery? Unlike in the mock trailer, though, I doubt that Samsung will market “slightly thinner” as a selling point. Not verbatim, at least.
