Android Nougat update for the unlocked Moto Z coming next month, Moto Z Play will get it in March

1comment

It's been almost two months since Motorola released Android Nougat updates for Verizon's Moto Z and Moto Z Force, but, unfortunately, there's still no update for the unlocked version of the Moto Z. However, Motorola today confirmed to Android Central that the unlocked Moto Z is getting Nougat soon, though not this month. Reportedly, the update will be rolled out sometime in February in the US.

Motorola also said that the Moto Z Play would be updated to Android Nougat starting March - this includes both the unlocked model, and the Moto Z Play Droid that's sold by Verizon. In other parts of the world, the Moto Z Play could get Nougat as soon as this month, so we're not particularly happy to hear that the update isn't arriving in the US before March.

Other Motorola handsets that should be updated to Android Nougat in the near future include the Moto X Pure Edition (3rd generation), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Moto M, Droid Turbo 2, and Droid Maxx 2.
