This is how Privacy Display on the Galaxy S27 Ultra might be different from today

We can discuss the Galaxy S26 Ultra's shortcomings all day long. We'd be talking mostly about its 5,000 mAh cell, the same capacity that Galaxy S Ultra models have been receiving for seven straight years. But, credit where credit is due: the Galaxy S26 Ultra debuted the clever Privacy Display feature.

Some say it's too big of a compromise, but I think it's practical and so does my colleague Pres:

Privacy Display, I'm sure, will once again find its way onto the Galaxy S27 Ultra and Samsung would be foolish to ditch it just like that.

But the feature itself might be different… and Xiaomi might be the inspiration for the change.

Split-screen Privacy Display rumors

Ice Universe (one of the well-connected Samsung leakers) has a new X post that's all about the Galaxy S27 Ultra and the potential change of the Privacy Display feature. In the video, however, it's the Xiaomi 18 Pro:

That's because the new Xiaomi 18 Pro (a marvelous-looking phone, by the way) already has what the Galaxy S27 Ultra will probably also pack: a split-screen Privacy Display feature. This means that only certain portions of the screen are visible and it works great for split-screen windows and apps. For instance, on top of your screen you have your banking app and at the bottom—an internet browser. To those Peeping Toms who are around you, the banking app would be invisible, but the bottom browser—not.

"A similar split-screen privacy feature is expected to arrive on the Galaxy S27 Ultra", Ice Universe says.

Right now, one can adjust the Privacy Display feature to be triggered by certain apps of your choice on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but a split-screen capability would be nice to have.
