Samsung's annual Smart App Challenge is here, focus is on Chord SDK apps like Group Play

Samsung's annual Smart App Challenge launches, focus is on Chord SDK apps
Samsung's Smart App Challenge last year was a huge developer undertaking with more than $4 million in prizes and benefits. This year the award pool has shrunk to $800, 000, but the scope has also shrunk.

Samsung will be giving bounty to ten applications with creative usage of its Chord SDK, as demonstrated on the Galaxy S4 below, for instance. This feature allows fast peer-to-peer connection across multiple devices, and collaborating or sharing info and media together on the fly.

Perhaps the most impressive demonstration of what Chord SDK can bring so far is the surround sound speaker mode made of several S4s doing one and the same song, but the possibilities are endless, and that's precisely what Samsung wants to tap with its 2013 app challenge, and from a fresh perspective at that.
