Samsung India promotes Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) as a special phone for bikers with "Bike Mode?"

According to a report published today, Samsung India will be introducing a new handset on Thursday, March 31st. Based on current promotions being run for the phone, it is  aimed at motorcyclists. The handset promises to "change the way you ride." According to one source who claims to know about the unit, the phone will offer a new "Bike Mode" that allows users to concentrate on riding instead of getting caught up in looking for notifications and answering phone calls. Turning on Bike Mode will mute the phone, and automatically sends a text to callers telling them that they should try to call again later.

Considering that Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is seen in a promotion for this new handset, it could be a special version of a phone in Samsung's Galaxy J lineup, quite possibly the already released Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016). Priced at $179, this device was launched in the U.S. at the beginning of the year via pre-paid carriers Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. AT&T's version of the phone could be launched in May. The actor appeared last year in promotional videos for the Galaxy J line.

If the phone aimed at bikers is the Galaxy J3 (2016), we are talking about a device featuring a 5-inch AMOLED display, with a 720 x 1280 HD resolution. The Snapdragon 410 SoC is under the hood, carrying a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 306 GPU. 1.5GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of expandable native storage. A 5MP camera is on back with a selfie snappin' 2MP camera on front of the device. A 2600mAh battery keeps the lights on, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed. The phone could be updated to Android Marshmallow before its release on AT&T.

We should know more about the special biker's mode on Thursday when Samsung India holds its media event.
