Samsung Galaxy S7 edge repeats as the GSMA Smartphone of the year at MWC

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge repeats as the GSMA Smartphone of the year at MWC
While Moonlight took home the Academy Award for 'Best Picture' last night (with a brief detour), the GSMA also announced its "Best of" for MWC 2017. And named as the Best Smartphone in the Best Mobile Handsets and Devices category was (envelope please) La La Land. Oops. Sorry about that. We were given the wrong card by Price Waterhouse. Really. Actually, named as the best smartphone at MWC was the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S7 edge was recognized for its "refined design, advanced camera and outstanding performance." The Galaxy S7 edge beat out the other nominees in the best smartphone category which included:

The win makes it two consecutive victories for the same phone as the 2016 winner was also the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. Normally, Sammy might have nominated the Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ after unveiling both at MWC, but it has pushed back the introduction of both models until March 29th.

Congrats Sammy. The S7 edge deserves it. And with the current price drop, I think it will sell more.

Yeah not surprising got the most features and best display with good performance. Samsung pay, great styling, VR fast charging, fast wireless charging, great battery, ip68 rated, vulkan graphics support, OLED displa, a heart rate monitor and with the new update the software is first class.

The Note 7 would have been a lot more deserving if not for the battery fiasco. Still really want one Exynos variant...

Only because Samsung couldn't come up with a new model.

The s7 edge is truely something amazing, not only their ui has improved, but actually the best to use till today. After almost a year, it still hasnt slowed down a bit, best mobile camera, best screen, best ui. Most of all, after using a curve screen, i find flat screen phones are just boring, just cousee myself going back to flat screen.

To be honest, their ui isnt the best, but close to it. I love love love my s7 edge from the bottom of my heart, i just love everything about it. I will see what samsung does to the s8 and see if im willing to give it up and get the s8, but other than that, my s7 edge is my all time favourite. And ive used a lot of phones trust me, none as good compared to my s7 edge.

Why to go Sammy

This is a horrible decision. I mean, the weather forecast on the S7 edge is set (out of the box) to update every 6 hours. The fact that I have to change it on my own makes it a terrible piece of technology. The judges should have picked a device that reads my mind when it comes to update intervals. /s http://www.phonearena.com/news/Why-I-think-800-is-too-much-for-the-Galaxy-S7-edge_id79644

It could and should have been the Note 7. Oh well a win is still.a win and both the S7 edge and Note 7 should be tied for top. See, sells arent everything!

Notice all the iPhone fanboys have nothign to say. Their beloved has lost to Samsung...YET AGAIN! They have been silence. If the S8 was shown at MWC it would have won. But we can take the S7. Even though I personally don;t like the S7 edge as much as I like the S6 edge, it is still a great device that offered improvements over the S6 edge even if minor.

You know you're leaps ahead of the competition when you can win the "best phone of the year" category two years straight, with the same phone. :D
