Samsung Galaxy Note 8 might be announced in late August, ahead of the iPhone 8

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 might be announced in late August, ahead of the iPhone 8
The moment Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, the rumors for its next flagship started pouring in. Most of the reports claim that the Galaxy Note 8 will be coming with a dual-camera setup, and a rather big 6.3-inch edge-to-edge screen.

However, if the Note 8 does indeed feature 6.3-inch display, and it retains the 9:18.5 aspect ratio, introduced with Samsung's current flagships, there will not be much that will differentiate it from the Galaxy S8+. Samsung might have to pack a lot of extra features to make the Note 8 relevant, especially considering that the device is rumored to come with the same type of Infinity Display as the Galaxy S flagships.

We can safely assume that Samsung knows what it's doing though, especially considering that according to latest rumors, it's planning to unveil its new Galaxy Note in late August. This will put its announcement ahead of that of the new iPhone 8, which should give Samsung a bit of an edge in the race against its main competitor.

Usually, Samsung announces its new Notes at IFA, one of the biggest expos for consumer electronics. This year, the show will start on 1 September, so it's very likely that the South Korean tech behemoth will officially unveil its Galaxy Note 8 a day or two before that, and offer consumers a hands-on experience at IFA.

Only time will tell whether or not the new rumor is true, but it certainly sounds plausible.

Not much difference from S8? There goes iphonerena again purposely trying to downplay anything that isn't a iPhone The S-PEN and the features it brings makes MORE than enough difference ,this is the same publication going crazy over a file manager for the iPhone!!!a file manager that has been available on android for over 7years Yet you downplay the notes biggest feature which is the S-PEN,you can imagine the Ecstacy iphonerena would go through of iPhone had an S-PEN and all the features that comes with it. Not to mention the note 8 has dual cameras So for a site flipping their wig that iPhone may now have a file manager like it's the second coming of Christ it's kinda weird the downplaying of the S-PEN

What do you expect from a bunch of stupid apple presstitutes? Part of the reason why I'll never disable AdBlock on this site.

Most people barely use the Spen and it's it's not like it's a new feature lol! Dual cameras? Yeah, we ever seen that before! It's basically an S8 plus with a pen. Also, being announced a few weeks early has never been an advantage. The iPhone will literally be announced and shipped a few weeks later. Everyone knows when it drops, the Note will be forgotten except the Damsung faithfuls.

The phone that started the big screen craze The phone that has apple now trying to copy it's stylus The phone that has a huge following yet people barely use the S-PEN? Ok apple-o-mighty-fortuneteller-fanboy please show me the hard cold facts that people barely use the S-PEN please...or are you just spouting nonsense like most apple fantards

He owned you, and it's obvious from your salty reply that you need to fill out a butthurt report form.

He owned nothing, merely another of his stupidly shortsighted and hypocritical spewing of his mindless hatred and jealousy. Once apple adds apple pencil support to the iPhone (which they no doubt eventually will despite their hypothetical downplay of it), the fool will just keep doing what he does best, sucking apple's d!ck, and finally realize the uses of an active digitizer, just like any other iSheep...

I think Note should have more than the pen and its software against S series. A better CPU and GPU too. S8 should be 5.5" and S8+ 5.8". So the N8 could be 6.2 or 6.3".

Lol, theres nothing special about the s-pen whatsoever that can't be done as easily on a regular phone as evidenced by the gs8 having the ability of the s-pen. The only thing that can't be done with a normal phone is drawing, of which no one ever does (or at least no serious person does). If the note was such a big deal they would have been selling in droves by now (yet they hardly even sell up to half of the s series and are not even samsungs top 3 selling phones). Its 7 years now and the industry has not followed suit. The notes have no advantages as all phones now have big screens, phones now have equally capable or even better hardware, phones now have split screens, phones have since had dual cameras and even the s-pen features can be done without any need for the s-pen If an oem was so interested in implementing it (e.g s8). Its same with the edge features. The note line is now a mainstream phone with samsung throwing in a pen to satisfy the gullible fanboys just like they did with the edge features.

Dont forget Apple now finally using NFC tech even though in the past they have mocked it. http://www.gsmarena.com/iphone_7_and_7_plus_will_support_nfc_tags_with_ios_11-news-25471.php

This. As if any samsung phones have ever threatned an iphone much less a note. The iphone 8 will be the biggest smartphone hit of all time wether samsung assembles all of its product lines and decides to announce them a year before the ip8 announcement or not. The only thing that will come close to being as big a deal as the iphone this year will be the announcement of surface mobile (assuming it happens this year).

Dude you do realize that iphone is sold by only one company and anyone on this planet has to buy an iphone if he wants an IOS phone? Even if Apple sells just one iphone 8, it would still have to be the highest selling iphone 8 because only Apple sells iphones? When are these Apple dick heads going to realize this?

they dont realzie that LOL sales of android devices are spread out over 100's of devices every year...and then you have only two ios smartphones out every year...kinda obvious that a single iphone will outsell any of the 100's of android devices to choose from common sense LOL would love to see apple sales if there were over 100's of ios smartphones from dozens of oems to choose from every year...lets see if they can duplicate what samsung is doing on the android side LOL

"This will put its announcement ahead of that of the new iPhone 8, which should give Samsung a bit of an edge in the race against its main competitor". I really hope Samsung knows what it's doing. We don't want an earlier announcement like the Note7 and ended up not getting the phone at all

It has always been announced before the iPhones and even August isn't unique for a Note (see the Note 2, 5 and 7). It's usually between the last 2 weeks of August and the first 2 of September.

"there will not be much that will differentiate it from the Galaxy S8+. Samsung might have to pack a lot of extra features to make the Note 8 relevant" The S-Pen is the biggest differentiator, and frankly, that's a major function I want in my next Smartphone. They'll most likely have several handy under-the-hood improvements beyond merely RAM and Processor, similar to what they had in the Note 7.

That's you though. Most people who bought the Note in the past did so because of the screen size. If there was a reason to pick up this new Note would be the camera.

@Post #12: Most people that merely wanted a bigger screen and battery already had that with the S7 Edge, yet the Note 7 still sold in millions in a short time frame. Just 'cause you can't see the uses (until apple "invents" it), doesn't mean millions of others won't...

And that's your thoughts nctx77. I bought my note 5 because of the pen. I knew it would be useful for me. I have the s8+ and will be getting me another note when the note 8 is released.

Outside of the S-Pen, they do so many tweaks within the software that makes the Note better. Especially for battery life. Take the Note 7 with it's 3500 mAh vs the S7 Edge with 3600mAh Smaller battery but I received noticeably longer use from the Note 7, even with the larger display
