HMD Global plans to update all its Nokia-branded smartphones to Android Oreo, the Finnish company confirmed a while ago. In fact,
Nokia 8 has already received the update, while
Nokia 5 and 6 are now going through the beta testing.
Although they are aimed at the entry-level segment
Nokia 2 and 3 will be updated to Android Oreo as well. Despite the fact that both pack hardware that in theory might not run Android OS as smooth as a mid-range smartphone, thanks to Android Go, at least one of these devices will have no issues with Oreo.
According to HMD's Juho Sarvikas, Nokia 2 will be updated directly to Android 8.1 Oreo since this version of the OS includes many of the
Android Go management improvements announced by Google, which should further enhance Nokia 2's performance.
Obviously, that won't happen until next year, as HMD Global will probably want to release Android Oreo for its other two smartphones first, Nokia 5 and
Nokia 6.
