NVIDIA Shield update adds Google Assistant improvements, YouTube TV support, more nifty features

NVIDIA is rolling out Shield Experience 6.1 update to its Android TV devices. The update brings quite a few new features and improvements, some of them having been previously mentioned by NVIDIA and Google.

First off, we have YouTube TV support for Shield owners in the United States, something that we've already reported about earlier today. Although Google Assistant has been enabled on NVIDIA Shield a while ago, the update brings some improvements that are meant to make it smarter.

All Google Assistant enhancements are only available in the US. After applying the update, NVIDIA Shield owners will be able to use their voice to open shows and control playback in HULU, order an Uber or a Domino's pizza, as well as go shopping on Target, Walmart, Costco and other retailers.

For UK users, the update adds ITV support, while everyone gets the option to turn the TV on/off over IR for Shield Remote. Furthermore, NVIDIA added the ability to update Shield controller firmware while charging over USB.

Many bugs have been fixed and the KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerabilities have been patched in the latest update. You can find the full changelog of the update at the source link below.
