Microsoft halts Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 Developer Preview for HTC models
Microsoft has put a halt to the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, for users of the HTC Windows Phone 8X and the HTC Windows Phone 8S. The "pause" as Microsoft puts it, deals with the Preview for Developers. The update is in beta, and while it is really available only for those registered with Microsoft as a developer, non-developers can get it without paying the $19 developer fee, from the Windows Phone App Studio website.

So why are those two HTC phones unable to install Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1? According to Microsoft, it has to do with a driver update that each of those HTC phones need. That update has to come from the manufacturer, before the Developer Preview version of the update can be sent out to the two models.

We understand that the HTC Windows Phone 8X and HTC Windows Phone 8S do not represent a large percentage of the Windows Phone market. The HTC 8X had a 4.7% slice of the U.S. Windows Phone pie on July 24th, according to AdDuplex. But that doesn't mean that owners of the two models should be denied the opportunity to install the latest OS build, even if it is a via a Developer Preview.

Just beautiful.. Very nice...... But, I got the 920, and the 1520... Didn't hear much from HTC after that!!!! ............ I've made some good choices... But, yes.. HTC makes some nice phones... Better than Samsung.. Once again just my little old opinion...

8X is the best wp I held. Love the texture & feeling of the phone. Solid device & good grip. Wish they made a android device with 8X design.
