Microsoft Lumia 640 coming to T-Mobile on July 16?
Last night, we showed you a series of four television ads that were produced for the Microsoft Lumia 640. Each of the 15 second spots center on virtual, voice-activated personal assistant Cortana. Earlier Friday, we had told you that pre-paid carrier Cricket had launched the Lumia 640 for a price of $129.99.

On Saturday, a tweet from T-Mobile broke the news that the Lumia 640 would be available via all T-Mobile channels on July 16th. When the device was posted on Microsoft's U.S. website, it listed the device as coming soon with a price for the T-Mobile branded model at $89.

The Microsoft Lumia 640 sports a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280. That works out to a pixel density of 294ppi. A Snapdragon 400 SoC drives the device and includes a quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU and the Adreno 305 GPU. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 8GB of expandable memory. An 8MP camera adorns the back of the phone while a .9MP snapper is on front. The lights are kept on by a 2500mAh battery. Windows Phone 8.1 is pre-installed along with the Lumia Denim update.

We are still awaiting word from AT&T when it will be launching the Lumia 640 and the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL. The latter comes with a 5.7-inch display.

The Lumia series are getting more irrelevant these days.Phones with similar specs and confusing naming (532,540,425..etc),just build a proper midrange/flagship with the newest chips MS! Not just a so called "Affordable Flagship" With SD400

I think they have a lot of devices in other countries. Thanks to the internet we have coverage on models that will never make it to the US. So if you consider the US, they only have a few so far: 640, 735, 640 XL, 435. That's not too many right?

What mid range android has the latest chip? At the time the Galaxy Avant 7/31/14 was released for $400 the 830 was released just 2 months later for $400. The Avant was certainly considered a mid-range phone. And I would certainly argue that the 830 vs the Avant, the 830 would look like the 'affordable' flagship for what it offered. Better screen, better battery life, better avail GB, More expandable GB (supported), smoother (deemed opinionated), and a better Camera(s). However same chip inside.

Where the heck are you paying 400$ for the Avant?! At launch it was $228, and has been as low as $100 in the recent past.

Also 2 months after T-mobile listed the phone on their site, I thought the release was imminent considering the 640 has been on their website for a few weeks now.

I just wish they'd launched this phone earlier. I'm waiting to change to WP since a year now but the lack of apps is really frustrating. I used a friend's L1520 for a week and I must say that the OS is awesome!
