Is this the HTC One 'M8 Ace' that is being teased by HTC China?

A while ago, we came across some interesting information that just might give HTC the push it needs to re-establish a foothold in the smartphone world once again. According to a source for Engadget, HTC is prepping a device that aims to challenge the likes of the Galaxy S5 with similarly high-end, flagship specs, but a plastic body and a much lower price. We're talking a 5-inch, 1080p display powered by a 2.5GHz, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC and a price tag of about $480 (CN„3,000). The device in question is said to come bearing the HTC One 'M8 Ace' moniker.

Well, according to several teasers posted on HTC China's Weibo handle, those rumors might just be true. While the trio of teasers (so far) do indicate that the device in question will have something to do with the One line, there's no mention of 'Ace' anywhere. What's more, the outlined design of the mysterious HTC device doesn't quite fit in with this render, courtesy of @evleaks. In other words, we could very well be talking about another addition to the One line, and not the Ace here.

Regardless, and on the whole, an aggressive move like that from HTC wouldn't surprise us at this point -- the company desperately needs to win customers' attention once again, and quick. An ace device like the M8 Ace just might be what's needed.

It's just a drawing. If you look closely, the buttons can be seen on the screen and the front camera and sensors are placed in an identical position to the One (M8).

Removable battery, better camera, smaller phone but still 5 inch, and cheaper. That will do it for me. This might not be cheaper at all but in fact it will have better specs.

If their high end $700 flagship has so many deal breakers, just how imagine how poorly made this budget version of it will be.....
