Most Nova and/or Action Launcher users are well-acquainted with the launchers' highly-customizable, color-changing, shape-shifting Google search bar widgets, and it seems like Google is taking note. The latest beta update of Google App introduces a customizable search bar widget of its own, and although it's not as flexible as the ones found in custom launchers, it's still good news for those who don't rely on home screen replacements.
At first glance, it looks just like the current search bar, but tapping the menu button reveals a new
Customize option that lets you choose from a suite of new settings to tailor the widget's appearance to your liking. These let you choose a logo for the search bar (either the letter "G" or "Google"), change its shape (rectangular or staduim-shaped), pick a color preset or create your own from a color wheel, and adjust the widget's transparency.
The customizable Google search bar widget is rolling out to the
Google App on the beta channel but should be making its way to the stable version in the near future.
The following customization settings are available for the Google search bar widget (from left to right) - Logo type, shape, color, transparency
