Android 8.0 Oreo update finally rolling for the Verizon Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge
After posting the Android 8.0 Oreo update changelog for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge on its official website twice and subsequently pulling it, Verizon has once again uploaded the information and, unlike previous attempts, the update actually appears to be rolling out for real this time.

Those who own either the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge will be pleased to know that the new software brings various new improvements such as changes to the App Pair feature and Dual Messenger. Also, a new high contrast keyboard design has been bundled in with various system UI changes that go hand-in-hand with the improvements Android 8.0 Oreo naturally brings. To name just a few, users will be able to take advantage of the new autofill functionality alongside Picture-in-Picture mode and the helpful notification dots. Furthermore, a boost to battery life is to be expected due to the introduction of background activity limits.

On a slightly less positive note, unlike many smartphones which now sport the May or June 2018 security patches, owners of either of the Galaxy S7 devices on Verizon will have to make do with the April 2018 release.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update should be rolling out to all Verizon-branded Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge units across the US. However, considering the popularity of the smartphone, it may take a few days before all units can download and install the new software. Nevertheless, those who are eager to receive it can manually check to see if it’s available via the Settings menu.
