Alltel adds Alcatel OneTouch Ultra 960C to the lineup
It might surprise some of you to find out that Alltel Wireless remains in business. Actually, this should definitely not be a surprise to those of you who are customers of the carrier in one of the six states it operates in. For those of you who are diabetic, the name of Alltel's newest device might sound exactly like the One Touch Ultra glucometer used to measure blood sugar, but be advised that the Alcatel OneTouch Ultra 960C is definitely a smartphone.

The device offers a 4.3 inch screen with a single-core 1.4GHz processor under the hood. The 5MP shooter on back captures video in 720p and the front-facing camera allows you to indulge in self-portraits or video chats. Android 2.3 is installed on the device. How much, you ask? Alltel wants $199.99 for the handset, but that is off-contract. Put on those two-year handcuffs and the price of the phone drops to $19.99. Alltel says the Alcatel OneTouch Ultra 960C offers "seamless integration" with Facebook and Twitter. And Swype is also installed right out of the box.

About the only thing this OneTouch Ultra can't do is tell you that you need to take an insulin injection.
