AT&T starts rolling out Android 9.0 Pie update to the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and Note 8

AT&T starts rolling out Android 9.0 Pie update to the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and Note 8
Great news for AT&T customers who bought Samsung's flagships, specifically the Galaxy S8/S8+ or Note 8, as the carrier has just commenced the Android 9.0 Pie rollout to these devices. The update is underway and it will reach all devices in the coming days, but since it's deployed in waves, it might not be available to everyone at the same time.

The information hasn't been confirmed by AT&T officials, but AndroidSoul spotted a few Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and Note 8 users on reddit who reported that they have successfully captured the update. Expect One UI and March security patch to be included in the update, but also make sure you have at least 2GB free storage before you download it.

If you've bought any of the smartphones mentioned from AT&T, you can check for the update right now, but if it's not available you can try to set your date to a day later and check again. If it's still not available, you might have to wait a while longer until AT&T releases the update to a larger number of devices.

AT&T is just the second major carrier in the United States that starts rolling out the Android 9.0 Pie update to the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8/S8+, after Sprint. Verizon and T-Mobile should follow soon, although it will take some time until all Samsung's carrier-bounded flagships launched in the US last year will be updated to Android 9.0 Pie.

I have s8+ on AT&T and mine just downloaded it today...do you like it? I've only had it for a couple hours and HATE it. It changed alot of my settings back to default (ringtones, notification tones, persinalized ringtones, wallpaper and a few other things). My friend has same phone on AT&T and it didn't change anything of her, but changed her sisters back to default (same phone). I also can't figure out how to change some things even though I've been sitting here for an hour trying to figure it out and I'm VERY techy!!! I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the background color of text boxes. It made MY text boxes a teal color and it's hard for me to see the texts cause it made the font white. So damn annoying, among a few other annoying things. And it looks soooo generic!!!

Downloading it here now. Huge file at 1710.24MB! Wonder what is all in it? Anyone know where to find out what's all in this update besides the Android 9.0 Pie OS?

I also can't figure out how to change some things even though I've been sitting here for an hour trying to figure it out and I'm VERY techy!!! I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the background color of text boxes. It made MY text boxes a teal color and it's hard for me to see the texts cause it made the font white. So damn annoying! I also have no "smilies", just a few stickers, but no actual option for regular smilies. The only way I have those is if I switch to my G-Board (which I have installed so I can send gifs to my friend and hubby). It also changed a few other settings-took all the shortcuts off my sidebar, I clicked settings to put stuff back and it took me to the main phone settings and I had to find the settings for the sidebar (burried within 2 other categories). I also don't like that some sections are over complicated. When I click the phone button to make a phone call I have to click "keypad" each time because by default it opens it to the recents list. THAT should be the option, by default it should open to the keypad. My biggest gripe is the new CAMERA. OMGosh!!!! Ok, I'm an avid photographer and have 2 digital cameras so I'm pretty knowledgable on camera settings, but they made the new camera SO difficult to use. It's not navigationally easy to work. Instead of just double or triple clicking a button (for instance on the flash) I have to click it and a little box rolls out and then I click my option and the box rolls back. I've also noticed the ratios of the camera view are now 3 different settings and none of them are as good as the last settings the camera had before this update. And IMO, it looks quite generic, too! Ugly bright colored boxes. It looks like some generic layout on a 5 y.o. smart phone from straight talk! I just think there were a few things that may have needed updating but they could have left off wuite a few, if not almost all of the updates. I know there are a lot of people who are happy with the new look, layout etc, but I'm not amd wish it were an option to update or roll back!
