*- anticipated prices
The Pixel 11 saw a $40 price increase over the Pixel 10, driven largely by the jump to 256GB base storage.
The Pixel 12 is expected to keep 256GB as the starting tier, so another large structural jump is unlikely. A modest increase due to chip costs is possible, but Google will be under pressure to keep the Pixel 12 competitive with the iPhone 18 and Galaxy S26 in the same range.
Pixel 12 camera
- No camera leaks yet
- Tensor G7's improved ISP expected to drive camera gains, as with previous chip generations
- Triple camera system expected to carry over – 48MP main, ultra-wide, 5x telephoto
The Pixel 11's camera system was one of its strongest points – a 48MP main with improved light sensitivity, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 10.8MP 5x telephoto. The ultra-wide at 13MP remained the weakest of the three, and zoom quality from a 10.8MP sensor is modest by flagship standards.
The most likely gains will come from the Tensor G7's imaging signal processor (ISP), which is where Google has traditionally extracted meaningful camera improvements without changing the underlying sensors. The 4.5x faster Instant Night Sight introduced with the Tensor G6 is a good example of what chip-level camera improvements can look like.
A more capable ISP on the G7 should push low-light and zoom quality further.
A hardware upgrade to the ultra-wide would be the most impactful change Google could make, but without leaks, that remains speculation.
Pixel 11 camera setup (for reference):
- 48MP main, f/1.7, Quad PD
- 13MP ultra-wide, f/2.2
- 10.8MP telephoto, f/3.1, 5x optical zoom
- 10.5MP selfie, f/2.2
Pixel 12 storage
- 256GB and 512GB expected, matching the Pixel 11
The Pixel 11 dropped the 128GB tier entirely, starting at 256GB – a long-overdue change given how much space modern apps and video consume. The Pixel 12 is expected to keep that structure.
RAM stayed at 12 GB on the Pixel 11's base model and is likely to remain there on the 12.
Expected Pixel 12 storage options:
- 256GB (12 GB RAM)
- 512GB (12 GB RAM)
Pixel 12 design
- No design or render leaks yet
- Slim profile and lightweight build established on Pixel 11 – no redesign expected
- All-black camera bar introduced on Pixel 11 expected to carry over
- IP68 rating expected
The Pixel 11 was a meaningful physical step forward – noticeably slimmer and lighter than the Pixel 10, with the camera bar redesigned in edge-to-edge glass that flows into the metal frame.

At 195.6g and 7.6mm thick, it was one of the more pocketable phones in its class. There's no reason to expect a visual reset on the Pixel 12, but further refinements to weight and dimensions are possible.
New color options are a certainty – Google refreshes the palette every generation. The Pixel 11 launched in Frost, Hibiscus, Obsidian, and Pistachio. What the 12 brings is unknown, but you can expect fresh and exciting colors in 2027.
Pixel 12 display
- Resolution rumored around 1080 x 2400 – slightly lower than Pixel 11's 1080 x 2424
- Screen size not yet confirmed – 6.3-inch expected based on Pixel 11
| Device | Screen size | Brightness |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 12 | 6.3-inch* | 3,000 nits* |
| Pixel 11 | 6.3-inch | 3,000 nits |
| Pixel 10 | 6.3-inch | 3,000 nits |
* - anticipated sizes
The rumored resolution dip from 1080 x 2424 to 1080 x 2400 is worth noting but amounts to a negligible difference at 6.3 inches – no one will notice it in everyday use.
Interestingly, the Pixel 12's listed resolution matches the Pixel 10's exactly, which could point to a panel reuse or a very slight aspect ratio adjustment rather than any meaningful display change.
The Pixel 11's Actua display at 120 Hz and 3,000 nits was well-suited to its class, and we'd expect the 12 to match or improve on that baseline.
Pixel 12 battery
- Silicon-carbon battery rumored for the Pixel 12 series
- No battery size leaks yet – increase from 4,985mAh possible
Silicon-carbon cells are the most significant battery development rumored for the entire Pixel 12 lineup. These cells pack more energy into a smaller physical footprint and charge faster than standard lithium-ion.
The main downside is longevity: silicon-carbon batteries degrade faster than lithium-ion, which could be one reason Google has held back. Whether the base Pixel 12 is among the first to make the switch – or whether silicon-carbon arrives first on the Pro models – remains unknown.
The Pixel 11 came with a 4,985mAh cell, a negligible bump over the Pixel 10's 4,970mAh, and Google claimed 30+ hours of battery life with Adaptive Battery.
Real-world results depend heavily on how efficiently the Tensor G7 manages power compared to the G6, which already delivered meaningful efficiency gains on the 2nm node.
Charging on the Pixel 11 stayed at 30W wired, reaching 55% in about 30 minutes. PixelSnap wireless charging returned at up to 25W.
Neither is class-leading, and bringing wired speeds up – to 45W or beyond – would be a welcome change on the 12, although such is not rumored at this time.
Pixel 12 features and software
- Android 18 out of the box
- 7 years of OS and security updates
The Pixel 11 will most likely come with Android 18 out of the box. The Pixel 11 launched with Android 17 and seven years of OS and security updates – one of the strongest commitments in the Android ecosystem. That policy is expected to continue.
What Android 18 builds on top of that is unknown, but Google's pattern of using the base Pixel as the reference Android device means the 12 will ship with whatever Android 18 brings in its purest form.
Pixel 12 hardware and specs
- Tensor G7 expected, likely on a 2nm process
- RAM: 12GB expected – same as Pixel 11
- No charging or connectivity spec leaks yet
The Pixel 11 is likely going to come with the Tensor G7, carrying internal codename Lajolla. A 2nm process node is expected. The Tensor G6 already delivered on that node, bringing 20% better power efficiency, 25% faster browsing, and 15% faster app loading over the G5.
The G7 on a likely refined 2nm process should continue that trajectory.
One concerning detail comes from the same source: Google may carry over the same GPU used in the Tensor G6, which itself recycled the G5's GPU.
Three consecutive generations with the same graphics processor would be an unusual choice for any phone marketed as a flagship – though at $899, the Pixel 12 sits below the flagship tier nowadays.
The Tensor chip's AI processing advantages, built in partnership with Google DeepMind, remain the more relevant story for the Pixel 12's core audience.
Should you wait for the Pixel 12?
- You should wait for the Pixel 12 if battery life is a frustration with your current phone and silicon-carbon cells end up making it into the base model. If Google delivers that alongside a more efficient Tensor G7, the 12 could offer meaningfully better endurance than the Pixel 11 without increasing the phone's size or weight. If you're on a Pixel 9 or older, the accumulated improvements across chip, camera software, and software support make the wait reasonable.
- You should not wait for the Pixel 12 if your main reason to go for a Pixel is the camera. The Pixel 11 already delivers an excellent imaging experience at its price point, with the 5x telephoto being a standout feature that most phones in this range don't offer. Camera Looks and Magic Capture are well-implemented and will only improve with software updates. The Pixel 11 is available at reduced prices now, and the Pixel 12's camera improvements – hardware or otherwise – are entirely unconfirmed at this time.
