Xiaomi rumored to launch an affordable tablet in 2015, said to perform super-smooth
Xiaomi certainly made some ripples in the industry this year, as its flagship-class, yet affordable, handsets launched it to the top spot for smartphones shipped in China, surpassing Apple's and Samsung's sales in the region, and made it the third biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world. Quite the accomplishment for a company, which started off with nothing but its custom MIUI Android skin.

Well, latest rumors suggest that Xiaomi is about to hit Apple and Samsung in another spot – the tablet market. Website Business Korea cites reports, which claim that The Mi is prepping a 9.2-inch slate, which will cost around $100. The rumored tablet will sport a 1.2 GHz, quad-core Snapdragon 410, an Adreno 306 GPU, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage. The display will be illuminated by 720 x 1280 pixels, which brings our expectations for the PPI density of the screen to be around 159 – not quite sharp.

The sources claim that the tablet's performance will be akin to the iPad Mini's and is expected to become a widely popular choice, thanks to its low price. According to the reports, Xiaomi will be launching its new slate early next year. There is no word on international availability, but seeing as Xiaomi is striving to go global, we'd wager there will be a way to at least order the tablet from the manufacturer's website, if not through a dealer.

Yeah right. 'Gunning' after Samsung and Apple with 159 ppi and SD410. It barely 'guns' against Moto G.

A price tag of $100 is not in the same price brackets as Apple. Hardly, their competitor.

the main thing here is size.. there aren't many 9-10 inch tablets that are this cheap..

Not at all a competitor for Apple. iPad is the best tablet in my opinion. But they can gun on Samsung at least on China. Actually Samsung doesn't have a decent low end phone. They better change that.

A low-end full windows tablet is a never a good idea considering how much resource Windows hogs.

Either get a low-end android tablet or a high-end Windows tablet.

you are mistaken windows 8.1 is already very light , windows 10 will be even lighter ,

the hardware has caught up now.. for 200 $ you can get

2gb ram
intel atom quad core Z3735

the chip is capable of running crysis and COD modern warfare 3

and can handle office , browsing, video and OS very smoothly ( search youtube )

see this

and these are running on old bay trail chip , intel is about to launch cherry trail chips that will push performance far far beyond ..

why buy ipad and android tablets when you can have full windows tablet , you get full functionality with legacy software , run any program you desire... believe it or not 2015 marks the end for ipads and android tablets

Damn! That tablet is pretty good for how much you are paying for. I still don't see myself getting a tablet to play game on since my 3 year old rig is still pretty beasty.
