OnePlus 3S could be real as unknown model gets CCC certification

Last week, we passed along information from analyst Pan Jiutang, who said that OnePlus was going to produce the OnePlus 3 Plus. Now, there is some evidence that suggests that there is a variant of the OnePlus 3 coming, called the OnePlus 3S. A mystery OnePlus phone with the model number A3010 has been certified by China's 3C. Most electronic devices imported into China or made in the country must have the China Compulsory Certificate mark. One of the reasons for the CCC to exist is to show consumers that a product has been tested to prove that it is safe.

Considering that the OnePlus 3 is the A3000, it makes sense that the A3010 would be a variant of the current handset. Co-founder Carl Pei noted in a blog post yesterday that there is a one month delay on shipping the One Plus 3 because of a shortage of AMOLED screens. Perhaps the A3010 is merely a version of the OnePlus 3 with an LCD panel.

But if there is a OnePlus 3S with a specs upgrade, it is expected to contain the Snapdragon 821 chipset. OnePlus is usually quick to confirm or deny speculation, so hopefully we will hear something definitive before too long.
