Verizon showcases Google Duo in new video, says you sometimes don't need its network at all

Verizon Wireless today released a video ad that suggests you should stop using its network... at least from time to time. The ad - embedded above - taps into the holiday spirit and encourages Verizon customers to "be present" this holiday season and connect with family and friends in real life, rather than via digital means. After all, Verizon's network will still be there when you want to use it again.

As you can see in the video ad, Verizon is showing off some Google Pixel phones and Google's popular Duo video chatting app. Released earlier this year on Android and iOS, the app is very easy to use, and lets you see the caller before actually answering. As for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Verizon is the only US carrier that's selling them, though you can buy any of the two devices unlocked and activate them on other carriers.

Phones and apps aside, Verizon is right to suggest we should just disconnect from time to time, wouldn't you agree?
