New LG built Windows Phone coming to Verizon on May 21st?
Last month, we passed along rumors about a new LG built Windows Phone that was expected to be heading to Verizon. The LG-VW820 is apparently the LG Lancet. Today, one of our loyal readers was able to send us some information pertaining to the first new Windows Phone model for Big Red this year. According to what appears to be an internal memo regarding the phone, it will launch on May 21st.

Based on previously leaked information, the LG Lancet is expected to feature a 4.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 854. A 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 CPU is under the hood. There is 8GB of native storage, of which 4GB is available to the user. There is a microSD slot available in the likely event additional storage is needed. An 8MP camera is on back while a .3MP shooter adorns the front of the unit. A 2100mAh battery powers the phone, which has Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 pre-installed. Cortana comes with the handset out of the box.

Some of the LG features included with the Lancet include Knock On, which wakes the phone with a double tap. Selfies can be snapped with a wave of the hand and Soft Light gently illuminates those self portraits. Pricing has not yet been revealed.

Thanks for the tip, Drizzy!

Because they know wp8 are weird and just like Nokia super bricks. So if they are going to test the waters, they have to tread carefully with some mid rangers first.

Again, with another low end turd. If they put windows phone on the G3 or G4, it might have been interesting.

Not everyone need "High end". Not for me or you, but some only need a cheap functional Smartphone. It's all about the price range.

Yes I agree but they already have 50 low/midrange phones. They need to bring a phone that someone might buy

Exactly, the low end are a dime a dozen at this point. There are only four truly high end phones; the M8 (which I own), the 1520, the 930, and the Ativ SE. A G3 or G4 with windows would be a huge win.

LG was there at the start of the windows fight... MS favoritism towards Nokia pissed them off.

Absolutely. The Quantum was one of the first WP7 handsets. LG, Dell, HTC and Samsung were all in at the start.

One of the reasons why I haven't gotten a Window Phone yet, the specs of the devices aren't that great, and when they are the device costs just as much as an Android or iPhone with better specs.

Good point. Windows will never win the Value vs Specs war. But you do get something the others don't offer. For example when the Lumia 930 came out you could get the latest iphone or Android for the same price, but Lumia offered one of the top prob the best camera (Def best audio for video recording), a physical shutter button and premium built quality and wireless charging in one package. And Windows doesn't necessarily require the very latest processor to run as it's less demanding. You really have to like WP to switch asthey can't really compete in price. However I know some people who tried it and wouldn't go back.

The reason why I'll never get a Windows Phone is the lack of dedicated apps. Hope Windows 10 would fix that.

LG will make squat on this phone. It couldn't be a more mediocre phone and will be one of the reasons it won't sell. You could get a icon for roughly the same price and its a better phone all the way around

It's an effing low-end phone, of course it won't sell. Get a grip, man.

Now they'll get poor sales for this poor handset and then both LG and Verizon will blame Windows phone. Same old story repeated by every Windows phone OEM.

Price is the key point here and if it's Windows 10 ready it's a go. but Damn it's a dull looking device. yoo smart phone makers put some shinny silver or gold colored metal around your bezels will you you can make a simple design look glorious.

This is what you get when your girlfriends keep buying those dang phablets; no one will invest decent specs in a compact unit. Yeah, I know ... Sony did it (Xperia Z3 Compact) but then they could not convince a major player* to sell it so we're back to square one looking at murses to carry the dang phablets around in. Sigh.

*In the US. In Japan, smart folks are snapping them up as fast as they can make them from what I read yesterday.
