Alleged HTC One M8 mini image shows up, no Duo camera on the back

Expected to be available starting next month, the unannounced HTC One M8 mini may have been pictured today for the very first time.

What seems to be the One M8 mini appeared in an image posted via Weibo - the most popular Chinese microblogging platform. As you can see above, the handset has a protective case on, and looks a lot like the original One M8, with one major difference: it features a single camera on the back, not the Duo camera arrangement that’s found on the larger One M8. According to previous rumors, the rear camera of the M8 mini should be a 13MP unit (without HTC's UltraPixel technology).

Other features that the One M8 mini reportedly offers include a 4.5-inch 720p display, quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory. Obviously, Sense 6.0 UI and Android 4.4 KitKat should be on board.

Sure enough, there’s no way of telling if this is indeed the real One M8 mini. But we can’t imagine that the smartphone can look any different anyway.

Just like the 5-inch HTC One M8, the M8 mini will probably be released in many markets around the world - including in the US, where Verizon should offer it at some point. We're pretty sure that more details about this will be revealed soon, so make sure to stick around.

Actually both of them look very bad, M8's bezels are awful, and these too rounded corners, M7 looks much more better and physical buttons were better. S5 looks nice in black but it,s back cover is awful I'm waiting too see metal replacements.

Please tell me without trolling how the SGS5's design is bad? Because it isn't made a metal? Oh cry about it with your other HTC fanboy friends who are butt hurt because HTC is going down the crappers and you're mad because they can't even come close to competing with Samsung.

I'm going to give you a pass just based off you clearly have no idea about folks on this site.. The first gentleman ( I use that term very lightly) trolls anything not SS. This guy comes in here for attention, positive or negative. If you come into an article about said company with a name and rep like his and speak total nonsense you are going to get feedback on said issue.
Nobody is mad that Ss gets sales like they do and yes looks are subjective but SS has been about as lazy and complacent as another iconic company (see the from of any Ss device and they look all the same whether it be this Gen,last or the last before that). If you are okay with lazy designers then be my guest and keep supporting it. I personally don't stick with any MFG even if I prefer one or the other I am overall a cell tech fan. With that being said I wont support more SS devices until they apply the same level of love they do to the software as they do with the design.

I don't have any idea about folks on this site? I have been here since 2010, I use this website daily and post comments on articles, daily.

When someone trolls, yea I call them out on it, if you're going to troll, at least be able to back it up. Not just say stupid statements just for the sake of trolling. I have no problem with people not liking Samsung or it's design, but people act like Samsung's design of plastic is so flawed that it is unsable. I have had no problems in the many Samsung phones I have used for the past few years with their plastic design. People bash it only because that's all they got.

So unless you or anyone else has had a Samsung device that because of the plastic design, caused them not to be able to use it or enjoy it's features, no one really has any reason to bash it. Oh boo hoo, you want a metal phone and don't like plastic. That's your own personal preference, it still doesn't mean that the phone is any less useful nor would it cause any issues later down the road.

Okay fair enough BUT you seem to be overlooking the original poster who dogged HTC in a HTC article?? Nothing that you say means jack if you are going to call out the first troll unless of course you are trolling yourself?

The reason why I didn't say anything is because at least what he said was related to the article and phone itself. He never said anything about Samsung nor claimed Samsung had a better design, it was the person who responded to him that bashed Samsung which I found unrelated to the article and an attempt to start a flame war.

Well apparently you don't read this forum like your numbers suggest because he bashes anything non Samsung. Then there is the person you started bashing because he stated that the back looked awful and would have been nicer with a metal back? Thats no worse than what the kid with the "friendsofsamsung" made but as a supporter of SS you couldnt jab at him of course..Hmmm

I get your point and I agree with you. I can admit I can be biased to Samsung as I love their products. I did try out the original HTC One and thought it was an amazing phone, loved the design as well. I attack people who have never used a Samsung phone and bash it's design simply because it is plastic, I find it very ignorant because there is still plastic in a lot of phones. Metal and radio signal don't mix together, just look at the HTC Titan and the original iPhone. Both devices had tons of signal issues because of the material they were made of. Plastic is not only ECO friendly but it doesn't screw with your signal strength and cause you headaches of dropped calls and wifi issues.

It seems like the only thing people can bash Samsung for is their "cheap" plastic designs. I have never had any issues with any Samsung phone I have used. Just because the HTC One is made of metal, doesn't seem it is anymore durable than a plastic Samsung. The metal can get bent, can scratch, and the screen can get cracked just as easily.

His dreams was already ruined when the Z2 and One M8 came out, because he couldn't take the pressure of the elegance that the Z2 and One M8 offer whereas the S5 didn't.

I actually believed that there is a case around the m8 mini in case you aren't aware. And M8 is obe of the better looking phones, I mean when you are used to cheaper plastics it might be somewhat harder to get used to premium feeling. It's alright though, Samsung got you covered with more plastics coming your way:)

but again, M8 is more sexier)) white plastic of M7 vs full metal M8 is dealbreaker for me.

I know right.. htc got the worst design, your name is cute,. By the way, Since when did Samsung change design? Oh god i wish you can imagine S6 it got new design! Its slightly bigger...yep its good design..

Ffs. From galaxy s2, to s3, their design is not too far from each other. They just made it bigger. Sounds like apple right?

You should take a look HTC one V, One S, or at least One X, they look horible for others but hey, truth to be told...they change design..

Their designs are the same (at least in HTC with metal built, BoomSound and in LG the rear buttons). Samsung has the same desing for every single Galaxy out there!

@Rory...its really not an excuse. I have owned HTC phones up to the One M7. Almost everyone who stopped me in public to ask me what kind of phone I had, never heard of HTC. So there is a marketing issue, people tend to buy what they hear about the most. And don't think I'm hating on SS. I have the Note3, Galaxy tab3, and Galaxy Note 8.0.
Oh and I still have my One M7, and the HTC EVO 4G LTE!

As far as I know they are in two different categories. Z1 compact is a high end device and more expensive, the HTC, LG, Samsung mini's are not that. This is the category from Xperia M2 and the expected Xperia G.

I would really consider this mini M8 as an upgrade from the M7 HTC One. my one and only gripe about the the m7 or M8 is that stupid 4 megapixel camera. 13MP would be awsome, and the price point would probably its best feature!
