I was looking for a phone that just works and this is it. The speakerphone works great for me (I tested it from 5 feet away and I didn't need to raise my voice at all) which saves me from buying a headset. Very happy!
I just bought this phone last month when I signed up with Sprint's cellular service. I think it's a pretty good phone--the reception is clear, it has the basic features like the alarm clock, speakerphone, etc. The only thing I don't like about the alarm clock is that if I set it to wake me up in the morning and I want to turn the phone off at night to save the battery, the alarm will not go off. So I wake up before the alarm goes off, and I turn the phone on.
I'm disappointed that this phone cannot download ringtones (I should've asked about that before I purchased it--I was in a rush). I've had prepaid phones that were able to download ringtones. I'll probably just trade it in after the 18 month period.
The antenna--so far, I haven't extended it when I used the phone. I don't like these type of antennaes because I'm afraid they'll break. My first cell phone had an antenna like this.
This phone is a little too basic for my tastes. I got it for my b-day and it came with the cell phone plan. IT HAS NOTHING! If all you want is a phone its perfect! But at this day and age, most people are looking for at least a little frill! If they had added just one game, had more accessories, or even had a place where you could download things onto the phone I'd be happy, but they had NOTHING! Not reccomended, but if your looking for a cheap phone, its perfect.
the last reviewer might have been better off with the 200's bigger sister, the 8200 if he or she wants to add ringtones and wallpapers. The SCP-200 is a low cost, simple to use and generally basic cell phone. Its pretty reliable, gets great reception, and has a very good speakerphone( the last reviewer might have a defective unit). The built in ringtones are certainlly better than most basic no frills phones, and are both loud and clear.
My only complaint is the screen is a STN LCD rather than a TFT. The TFT would have had less power draw, and a sharper image. Though the battery life isn't bad, a TFT( or since this is such a basic phone, a monochrome screen)would have had a much better battery life.
I just got my phone almost a week ago and i'm not very happy with it...its an okay looking phone, but the speakerphone sucks, no one can hear me when i use the speakerphone...and not only that I'm mad because I can't find a site anywhere to download ringtones into THIS phone...im stressin because I really was hoping to have some cool tunes in my phone and now im just bummed because all the sites I've visited, have come up empty for ringtones for this phone....grrr
I got this phone as a B-day present. I love the way it looks (I got Pink Fushion) it's so beautiful, but other than that I have been a little disappointed. If you are a person that likes to talk on the phone a lot like me, this deffinitely isn't the phone for you. After about 5-10 minutes of talking the screen starts to get HOT! I took the phone back to Sprint and they said that the phone has a feature where the backlight dims but dosen't completely turn off and there is no way that they can get it to turn off (All Sanyo cell phones are like that!). Since the screen is on while you are talking on the phone the battery seems to go quicker. Also there is an annoying little green light that flashes when the phone is in use. But other than that it's a very simple phone. I would recomend it for people who have it for emergencies or to make quick calls.
I just got my Sanyo SCP-200 yesterday but I checked out available info beforehand. I am really pleased as I have experienced it so far. I chose it mainly for the speaker phone feature and the simplicity. I don't want to take pictures or surf the web with my phone.
It has all the basic bells and whistles available on cell phones today. I find that the I always use the speaker which delivers excellent sound quality overcoming the rather poor voice quality without the speaker. I have talked to my friend in Thailand on my SCP-200 several times with excellent results. If you just want a great little basic speaker fone for little money, I like the Sanyo SCP-200.
