Xiaomi Mi A2 & Mi A2 Lite design, specs, and pricing get detailed
Earlier today, Xiaomi announced a new launch event set that is set to take place in Spain on July 24. Here, the company is expected to unveil its next Android One smartphone, the Mi A2. But according to one listing in Poland, it seems rumors of a second device dubbed the Mi A2 Lite were accurate after all, which suggests the brand will actually unveil two new smartphones in Spain.
Unlike the regular Mi A2 which is set to sport an 18:9 aspect ratio, it appears Xiaomi’s plans for the cheaper Mi A2 Lite will see it adopt a taller 19:9 display panel complete with a notch up top, although it’s worth noting that it will be slightly smaller in size at 5.84-inches. In addition to this, while the overall rear panel is largely similar thanks to the dual-camera setup and fingerprint scanner, some changes have been made to the antenna bands. Moreover, in an effort to cut costs, a micro-USB port is featured instead of the newer Type-C connector, although the brand has included a 3.5mm headphone jack, something the more expensive offering does not.
Aside from the external modifications, the Mi A2 Lite also sports a rather different spec sheet, with the biggest change being the presence of the Snapdragon 625 instead of the Snapdragon 660. However, users will still gain access to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, on top of stock Android 8.1 Oreo straight out of the box and a rather larger 4,000mAh battery to keep the lights on.
When it comes to pricing, the listing in question offers the smartphone for roughly $285, or €240. Additionally, in regards to the regular Mi A2, the base model with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage looks set to start at roughly $350, which suggests a price tag of €299 is to be expected in Europe, although the most expensive model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage should be expected to cost €369, or $430.
