Xiaomi is going to introduce two new smartphones into the market, namely the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro. Interestingly, the specifications and pricing of both devices have surfaced online months before their release. Here's every upgrade both smartphones are reportedly going to get.
Leaked details of Xiaomi 17T
A French website has revealed almost every detail of the Xiaomi 17T and its Pro sibling. The Xiaomi 17T is reportedly going to feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen that will offer a 120 Hz refresh rate. If true, then the company is using a slightly smaller screen this year, as the Xiaomi 15T comes with a 6.8-inch display.
The website claims that the phone will come with 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and will be available in two storage options: 256 GB and 512 GB. The battery is getting a slight boost, as the upcoming phone is reported to pack a 6500 mAh battery, which is 1000 mAh more than its predecessor. It'll support up to 67W wired charging.

The powerhouse is also getting a small upgrade. The Xiaomi 15T operates on the Dimensity 8400 Ultra SoC, but its successor is reported to run on Dimensity 8500 Ultra.
The camera department isn't getting any upgrades. It'll be the same triple camera setup at the back, with both the main and telephoto cameras being 50 MP and the ultrawide camera being 12 MP. There's a 32 MP shooter in the front, just like last year.
Leaked details of Xiaomi 17T Pro
The screen dimensions of the Xiaomi 17T Pro are similar to its predecessor: a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate. It'll come with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage, according to the surfaced information.
Xiaomi is upgrading the battery capacity of the Pro model as well. Compared to the 5500 mAh battery that you get in the Xiaomi 15T Pro, its successor is reportedly going to ship with a 7000 mAh battery. The charging speeds are also going up, as the upcoming phone will support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The smartphone is believed to be powered by a Dimensity 9500 chip, which is also better in raw performance than the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor you get in its successor. The main camera of the phone is getting better as well.
This year, the primary shooter will be 50 MP, using the Light Fusion 950 sensor with an f/1.74 aperture. The telephoto camera, the ultrawide lens, and the selfie camera will be the same as last year, i.e., 50 MP, 12 MP, and 32 MP, respectively.

Prices are going up as well

Xiaomi isn't only changing the specifications of the upcoming phones, but their prices as well. The Xiaomi 17T is reportedly going to cost €749 ($876 via direct conversion), which is €200 more than its predecessor. The Xiaomi 17T Pro is going to cost €999 ($1169 via direct conversion), which is also €200 more expensive than the Xiaomi 15T Pro.
While not officially confirmed, it wouldn't be wrong to say that the price rise is related to the ongoing RAM crisis. Xiaomi's T series phones have always been seen as flagship killers, but with the reported prices, both models have almost entered the premium segment.
Xiaomi 17T still looks like a disappointment
Xiaomi 15T was released last year, and in our review, we realized that the phone is a bit expensive if you consider the specifications it offers. The chipset was very mediocre, and it didn't have wireless charging support either. I was really hopeful that the tech giant would work on these points in its successor, but that doesn't seem to be happening based on the leaked details.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro is definitely the device I am looking forward to, especially because of its processor. For reference, it's the same SoC that you will find in the Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro. So, I am hoping for really beastly performance from this device.
All that said, there are rumors that the Xiaomi 17T series could see an early launch this year, possibly in May. As was the case with the Xiaomi 17 series, it will also most likely first launch in China and then become available in the West a couple of months later.
