The Vivo S50 series is just around the corner, as we now have the exact launch date and official images of the lineup showcasing its rear design.
The Vivo S50 series is coming next week
The Vivo S50 lineup will feature two smartphones – the Vivo S50 and the Vivo S50 Pro Mini – launching in China on December 15. However, there’s no information yet about their global release.
The smartphone maker has also confirmed that the S50 will be available in four color options, while the S50 Pro Mini will be offered in three color shades. The Chinese-to-English Google translation reveals the color names as Confession White, Inspirational Purple, and Space Black. The name of the fourth color option for the Vivo S50 is translated as Serene Blue.
The shared images reveal that both devices feature a triple rear camera setup. The S50 Pro Mini’s cameras are arranged horizontally, similar to what you’d find on the iPhone Air. The S50, on the other hand, has two vertically aligned cameras with a telephoto lens positioned diagonally between them.
There hasn’t been any official confirmation regarding the exact camera specifications, but multiple reports suggest that both smartphones will include a 50MP front camera and a Sony IMX882 periscope lens. The S50 Pro Mini is also expected to feature a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor, while the S50 may come with a 50MP LYT-700V primary camera.
Other rumors about both smartphones suggest that the S50 Pro Mini may feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, similar to what is expected to power the OnePlus 15R, while the standard S50 could come with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The duo is also likely to ship with Android 16 out of the box, based on OriginOS 6.

December is going to be a month full of exciting mid-range smartphone launches. OnePlus is set to release an affordable version of the OnePlus 15 – the OnePlus 15R – on December 17 globally. Meanwhile, Vivo has now confirmed that it will launch its S50 series on December 15 in China.

The Vivo S50 Pro Mini, which is expected to launch globally as the Vivo X300 FE, will serve as the more affordable version of the Vivo X300. The smartphone is likely to compete against the OnePlus 15R when it launches globally, as both devices share many similarities, including the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. Both smartphones will give you more options to consider if you’re looking for an affordable device under $600, which I think could be the price range for both.
