While Galaxy S26 series owners across the globe have finally started getting their hands on the One UI 9 update, owners of older devices may not be as lucky. In fact, the Galaxy S24 phones are finally getting an update, but unfortunately it’s not what you may have been hoping for.
Galaxy S24 series phones are getting a disappointing software update
Samsung has started rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Galaxy S24 FE. Sadly, this release doesn’t include a stable version of One UI for these models.
Tipster Tarun Vats reported on X that the update is about 450MB on the international versions of the three main models in the S24 family. The update appears to come with a slightly lighter download of 438MB for the Galaxy S24 FE, according to an Alfaturk16 post on X.

While there’s no stable One UI 9 release yet, Samsung has brought the September 2026 security patch to the S24 series. The latest update addresses various vulnerabilities, and it’s already rolling out across the globe, so it may be a great idea to install it.
Earlier this month, Samsung started rolling out the first One UI 9 beta to Galaxy S24 devices in the US, India, and South Korea. Though the company hasn’t announced a specific date for the stable release of its Android 17-based software, it’s widely expected for this to happen in October.

While owners of older Galaxies may need to wait a bit longer, the Galaxy S26 has already started receiving One UI 9. This has certainly irked many Samsung fans, who have been comparing the experience with how Apple launched iOS 27 and all its predecessors.

Communicate more, Samsung
Waiting a little longer for a software update shouldn’t be such a big deal for anyone, but I would’ve appreciated better communication from Samsung. The company should’ve announced a release schedule and stuck to it instead of keeping quiet and expecting users to remain calm and content. Hopefully, that’ll happen next time around.
