Samsung is upgrading the Galaxy A15 to the latest One UI 9, based on Android 17. The rollout has now expanded globally, following the initial release in South Korea last month.
What’s included in One UI 9 for the Galaxy A15?
This stable One UI 9 update offers little in terms of visual changes on the Galaxy A15, but hides some notable improvements at its core.
Right out of the gate, the clock on the lock screen has a new stretching animation. The Quick Panel looks cleaner and its toggles are more customizable. The Settings app has some new menus, including the helpful Warranty and Care dashboard. A blue dot or a pin icon pops up in the corner whenever an app tries to access the phone’s location.
The new One UI uses smarter memory management to make scrolling and gestures seem more fluid. It also features new adaptations to better preserve battery life and to keep the phone cooler.

How is your OneUI 9 experience so far?
No concerning bugs reported in the wild so far
Samsung had a rocky start rolling out One UI 9, with one serious bug after another on every Galaxy series. I went looking for such potential One UI 9 bugs affecting the Galaxy A15, but I found nothing of note.

According to most users online, the phone looks and feels more or less the same after the update – no noticeable decline in battery life or performance either. This may be a huge win for the Galaxy A15 because budget phones tend to slow down with new OS versions.
Check your Galaxy A15 for the update
To check if your phone for the update:
Open the Settings app
Go to Software Update
Tap “Check for updates”
If the One UI 9 update isn’t available in Settings, try again in a day or so because Samsung rolls out these updates gradually.

The Galaxy A15 was originally released with One UI 6 and it was destined to get a total of four OS upgrades. One UI 9 is the phone’s third OS update so far, which will make next year’s One UI 10 (based on Android 18) its fourth and final upgrade. The phone will keep receiving security updates for another year after that.
